Domingo was born August 5, 1928 in Estancion Dorado, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jeronimo and Constanza Maldonado Piña. At the age of 12 he was sent to a boarding school where he grew up and became an educator, later he immigrated to the United State where he became a naturalized citizen on December 22, 1975. Domingo met Simona Delgado they were married May 28, 1959 and were blessed with six children. After Simona's untimely death in 1991, he married Mary Martinez in 1992. He relocated to San Miguel where he lived out his last years and where he had many friends. Domingo was a custodian and worked at New Mexico State University, Albertson's and UCLA Medical Center. He also worked as a plumber for Sid's Plumbing. Domingo's favorite career was raising his six children. He loved to cook for them and teach them about life; taught them never to give up and always remain positive, no matter what the circumstances were. Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Mary M. Piña of the family home; two daughters, Bernadette Piña (Joe Garcia) of Las Cruces, Bernice Dunton of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; four sons, Captain Ben Piña (Nancy) of Vienne, Virginia; Dr. Bernard Piña (Loretta) of Las Cruces; Blas Piña (Nancy) of Houston, TX; and Basil Piña (Beatrice) of Pasadena, CA. Other survivors include his mother, Constanza Piña of Los Angeles, CA; twelve grandchildren Leanna, Chloe, Elizabeth, Laura, Brandon, Amari, Olivia, Marina, Alyssa, and Amyliah Piña, Simon, and Sydney Dunton; four brothers, Leonardo, and Isidro Piña both of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, MX, Nacho Piña of Los Angeles, CA and Efrain Piña of Albuquerque; a sister, Josephine Piña of Los Angeles, CA. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Simona; his father, Jeronimo; three brothers, Socorro, Jose Julian and Jose Genaro, and a sister, Carmen. Visitation for Mr. Piña will begin at 6 PM Friday, January 21, 2011 in San Miguel Catholic Church, 19217 S. Highway 28 where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Mass at 9 AM Saturday, January 22, 2011 with Reverend Sergio Balderrama officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, 100 N. Espina in Las Cruces where he will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Capt.
