Charlotte was retired from the Las Cruces Public Schools. She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin John Austin, MD. She is survived by her husband, Jack Smithhisler, one son, Kirk Austin and wife, Annette, one daughter, Erika Austin, two grandchildren Keith Austin and Shannon Eisenberg and her husband, Alex, one great grandchild, Camryn Eisenberg, stepchildren, Nancy Smithhisler Bufano and her husband, Mike and John Smithhisler, two brothers, Ben Romero and his wife, Albina and Julian Romero and his wife Angie. A Rosary will commence at 1:30 P.M. with a Memorial Mass to follow at 2:00 P.M. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Monday, January 17, 2011 in memory of Charlotte Austin Smithhisler.
