Johnny was born in Las Cruces on January 6th, 1925. He was the third of four children, born to Fred and Neva Mae Carr. He joined the Navy at the young age of 17 and served in World War II for four years. Upon returning home to Las Cruces, he worked as a police officer. He met and married Ivy Jean Crawford in 1948. They were married for 53 years and had five children together; Phyllis Jean, Debby Neva, John Randall, Deana Lynn, and Mark Shannon. The couple moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 1969 where Johnny worked as a crane operator until he retired in 1988. They moved back to Las Cruces and lived there together until wife Jean passed away in 2001. In October of 2006, Johnny married Connie Jean Nell. Connie has two children, Renea Harrison and Roy Evans, both residing in Texas. Johnny really enjoyed watching Connie cook, and they both looked forward to their long talks. Close friend Justin Lawrence became a source of comfort for Johnny during the past year. Johnny was a wonderful husband and father, and his children will always remember him most for his unwavering commitment to his family and his sense of humor. They enjoyed him sending his funny and at times very sentimental e-mails. Johnny was preceded in death by wife of 53 years Ivy Jean Carr and beloved son John Randall Carr. He is survived by current wife Connie Jean Carr, brother Robert "Bob" Carr and his wife Zelda, daughter Phyllis and husband Red Heiman, daughter Debby and husband Henry Baker, daughter Deana and husband Roy Evans, and his son Mark Carr and wife Melita. Johnny also leaves behind eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Cremation will take place at Getz Funeral Home and a memorial service will be held at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Las Cruces at 11:00 am on January 6th, 2011. He will never be forgotten by those who loved him, and will be missed by many.
