Ortega , 97, of Anthony left her dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be with her heavenly Father, Thursday, January 6, 2011 at her home. She was born December 8, 1913 in San Francisco de Concho, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jorge and Juliana Gardea Vasquez. Mrs. Ortega was a homemaker; a communicant at St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a member of the Centro Cultural de la Mujer. Those left to mourn her passing include four sons, Jesus Ortega, Santiago Ortega and Guillermo Ortega all of Las Cruces, Cecilio Ortega of Dos Palos, California; three daughters, Josefina Rodriguez of El Paso, Texas, Agueda Calzada, of Las Cruces, Sylvia Ortega of Anthony. Other survivors include forty-four grandchildren; eighty-six great grandchildren; numerous great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reyes F. Ortega; a son, Gilberto Ortega; a daughter, Trinidad Hidalgo; a grandson, Gilberto Ortega, Jr.; a brother, Onecimo Vasquez, and a sister, Natalia Vasquez. Visitation for Mrs. Ortega will begin at 5 PM Sunday, January 9, 2011 in St. Anthony Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Avenue where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 6 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday, January 10, 2011 in the same church with Reverend Andres Alava officiating. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Anthony Cemetery where she will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Christian Villegas, Guillermo Marrufo, Jr., Reyes Marrufo, Jose Luis Rodriguez, Miguel Angel Ortega and Francisco Ortega.
