Vigil, 84, of Fort Bayard and formerly of Anthony entered eternal life Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Fort Bayard Medical Center. He was born June 25, 1926 in Imperial, Texas to Sebastian and Martha Esparza Vigil. He was a retired farmer and member of the Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his passing include a son, Arturo Vigil of La Mesa; three daughters, Maria Luisa Hernandez and husband Luis of Balmorhea, Texas, Elisa Sanchez and husband Alfred, Rosa Maria Vigil and former son-in-law, Alfred P. Ontiveros all of Anthony. Other survivors include eleven grandchildren, Albert, John Edward and Alfred Sanchez, Jr., Joshua Ontiveros, Roman Vigil, Irma, Ida, Agustin, Teresa, and Jose Luis Hernandez, and Angelica Neikirk; four great grandchildren, Javier Diego and Izahh M. Sanchez, Mia Dawn and Marcus David Neikirk. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Manuela Vigil and a son, Ricardo Vigil. Visitation for Mr. Vigil will begin at 6 PM Monday, January 10, 2011 in St. Anthony Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Avenue where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Mass at 10 AM Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in the same church with Reverend Andres Alava officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Anthony Cemetery where he will be laid to rest in the family plot. Serving as casket bearers will be Alfred, John Edward, Albert and Alfred Sanchez, Jr., Joshua Ontiveros, and Roman Vigil. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E.
