MATKIN, age 80, of Las Cruces, on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at La Posada - Mesilla Valley Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. Billie was born December 18, 1930 in Verden Oklahoma to Ernest Ike and Ressie Berry Adams. She was a Rebecca and a member of the VFW Post #10124. Those left to mourn her passing include her two sons, James Matkin of El Paso, Texas, Sam Matkin, Jr., of Las Cruces; three daughters, Kay Matkin, Brenda Matkin both of Las Cruces, and Selea Matkin of Reno, Nevada; one brother, Bill Gordon, of Arkansas and one sister, Serna Boggs of California. Other survivors include fourteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Billie went to heaven to join her husband, Sampson Lee Matkin and her parents, who preceded her in death. Visitation for Ms. Matkin will begin at 10 AM Monday, January 17, 2011 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road with the Funeral Service scheduled for 11 AM with Pastor Richard Johnson, officiating. Concluding Service and Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 5140 W. Picacho where she will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Ray, Arthur and Nathaniel Matkin, Steven Roman, Eloy Sanchez and Diego De La Cruz.
