Alex was born June 16, 1956 in San Antonio, Texas to Alex and Mary Quintero. He was a resident of El Paso since 2001 coming from San Antonio. He was a musician and a recognized artist-in-residence in the state of Texas. Alex will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of nine years, Jeanne of El Paso; one son, Alex Quintero, Jr. of San Antonio, TX; one daughter, Star Marie Becerra and husband Eric of San Antonio, TX; one step daughter, Wendy Jenkins of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Edward Quintero of Indianapolis, IN, and one sister, Sarah Martinez and husband Ed of San Antonio, TX. Also surviving him are his two grandchildren, Eric and Deric Becerra of San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Mary Quintero. A Memorial Service to celebrate Alex's life will be held at 3 pm on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Felix Gonzales. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to La Pinon Sexual Assault Recovery Services, 525 S. Melendres, Las Cruces, New Mexico 88005.
