Stryker born July 2, 1933 in Lubbock, Texas to Robert Lee Stryker and Juanita Keahey Stryker passed away on January 2, 2011 at the Heritage Assisted Living. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict and taught basic training in artillery weaponry at Fort Bliss, Texas. He received his bachelor's degree from NMSU and was active in Stryker's Floor Covering Business. In 1978 a Real Estate Development and Construction business was started with his family. He was past President of the Mesilla Valley Rotary Club and Paul Harris Fellow. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley Harper Stryker of the family home, one son Russell, (Karen) of Las Cruces, two daughters, Ronna Promani (David) of Castro Valley, California, Leslie Stryker (Chris Miller) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, three grandchildren, Owen, Sydney and Shelby Stryker of Las Cruces. He is also survived by three sisters, Barbara Harrison (Harold) of Las Cruces, Karen Kennedy (Barry) of Dallas, Texas, Patty Stryker of Las Cruces and one brother Winston Dorris of Palm Desert, California as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jo Ann Grandle. The family wishes to thank Alaina, Monica, Jay and the caregivers at the Heritage Living Center and to Mesilla Valley Hospice for their loving care. A visitation will held on Wednesday January 5, 2011 from 5 - 7 pm at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Getz Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Frank Zamora officiating. Private entombment for family will be at the Hillcrest Mausoleum.
