He was born November 28, 1978 to John B. Wasson Jr. and Cindy L. Welch in Las Cruces, NM. John SanDustin Wasson, Dusty to his friends, was a man of his word when he shook your hand. He meant it and expected the same from everyone else. If any of his friends needed his help, he was always willing to lend a hand. He had chosen to be a cowboy as his life's profession. He took that profession and mastered it, not at college or in a classroom, but on the back of a horse in some of the roughest country in New Mexico. All of us that rode with Dusty will agree that Dusty on the back of a horse was a thing of beauty to watch. He was a special kind of person that touched the hearts of so many people without even trying. He will always be remembered for his quick laugh and smile. We love ya Dusty and we'll see ya when we see ya. He is survived by his parents, John and Janet Wasson of Silver City; mother, Cindy McCauley of Albuquerque; three brothers, Nathan Wasson of Albuquerque; Cameron Beck of Silver City; Mo Burleson of Albuquerque; one sister, Heather Wasson of Silver City; paternal grandmother, Esther Wasson of Las Cruces; maternal grandparents, Mike and Gladys Disert of Mimbres; aunts and uncles, Donna and Ross Mitchell, Matt and Nancy Riehl, Kenny and Cherie Wallin, Kellie and Cary Hartman and Dean and Annette Disert; numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, John B. Wasson Sr., maternal grandparents, Gordon and Bobbi Welch. A memorial service will be celebrated Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Pastor Floyd Robertson officiating. In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to New Mexico Boys Ranch 775 Highway 304 Belen, NM 87002-7222. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory "Trusted care for the ones you love" ~ 575-537-0777. To send condolences, visit www.terrazasfuneralchapel.com.
