Lee was born and raised in Albuquerque, N.M. She graduated from Albuquerque High in 1938. During her high school years she was known as "Sugar" Beets. She had her own radio show and was part of the "Follies" which landed her an audition in Hollywood. As life would happen, she was called back home. She lived several times in California, throughout her adult life. The ocean was never far from her heart. In Albuquerque Verna Lee was an interior decorator and sales woman for American Furniture. She also owned her own framing studio where she and her Son Rick worked together framing pictures. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Yucca Temple #74 in Albuquerque, NM and Eastern Star with her daughter Candy, in Las Cruces, NM. While there, she was a partner with Jim and Peggy Boyer at the Solano square Florist. Eventually, Lee moved back to Albuquerque and was happily married to August Seis Jr. until the time of his death. For a second time, she would move to Las Cruces, NM to be near her Son and Daughter in-law Ty and Connie Loyd and to enjoy her youngest twin grandchildren Shawn and Moni'ka. While in Las Cruces, she helped in any way she could to build her Son's church, Church Triumphant, where she was an active member for 6 years. She would later live in Boise, ID. While there, in her 70's she joined with her daughter, Sally Sabino, as a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant. The last months of her life were spent with daughter Candy Spry near the ocean in Lincoln City, Oregon. Once again, Lee enjoyed rides along the coast line, feeding the seagulls, lunching on her favorite shrimp and enjoying "art" in the clouds. Mother was talented in all the arts. She played the piano all her life up until two weeks before she passed. She excelled in all dancing and art. She received blue ribbons for several of her oil paintings in California, and was talented in watercolors, oils and other creative art. She was still sketching up until the end. Mother, you came into this world a "Free Spirit" - Lived as a "Free Spirit" and left this world a gentle "Free Spirit." You built an inspiring life around your children with a loving heart. You taught us creativity and the ability to appreciate everything around us, from the clouds in the sky to the people who came into our paths. We are so grateful we were a part of your wonderful life, Mother, and we wish you sunny days, always. You will be missed by your family, but never far from our hearts. In loving memory, Lee is survived by her children, Sally Caye (Bob) Sabino of Boise, Idaho; Richard Bryan (Lonna) Witt of Mesa, Arizona; Candyce Lee (Randy) Spry of Lincoln City, Oregon; and Marvin Tyrone (Connie) Loyd of Las Cruces, New Mexico; grandchildren, Jim Sabino, Rod Sabino, Kimberlee Benson, Kelly Kemp, Moni'ka Lee Loyd Barnett (Jared) and Shawn Paul Loyd; great-grandchildren, Brandi, Aline, Kenny, Austin, Olivia, Victoria, Joshua, Hannah; and another great-grandson due October.
