He was born February 25, 1930 in Lakeside, AZ to Enrique and Eva Avalos. A loving husband, great father, grandfather and long time friend to all those that knew him. Henry is now resting in peace. Henry was retired from Weber Aircraft, in Burbank CA in 1980, where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. During that time he was part of the team that built the first ejection seat for the space shuttle Apollo that is now at a space museum in Cape Kennedy, Florida. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years Genevieve Avalos of the family home; five sons, Michael of San Fernando, CA, John and wife Anna of Las Cruces, Tim of Sylmar, CA, Joseph and partner Dr. David Luna of Los Angeles, CA, and Nicholas and wife Elvira of Temecula, CA; five daughters, Nancy and husband Ignacio Zendejas of Lake Hughes, CA, Linda Avalos of Palm Springs, CA, Theresa and husband Armando Rogero of Palmdale, CA, Kathy and husband John Trujillo and Stephanie Avalos and companion Richard Poling all of Las Cruces. Other survivors include twenty six grandchildren and one on the way, thirty two great-grandchildren and two on the way, as well as two brothers, Ned Avalos and Eloy Avalos. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou and Elsie, and a brother Christopher. Calling hours for Henry will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the funeral service is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Cremation will follow and inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date.
