She was born in Berino, New Mexico on March 04, 1932 to Silvestre and Soledad Sanchez, and attended school in Derry, New Mexico. On October 04, 1953 she married Juan Gutierrez in Garfield, NM, and they made their home in Derry, NM. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and homemaker who loved flowers, working in her garden, attending church, and helping others. She was lovingly known as "Pila" to her family and friends. Pila was a devout catholic, and an active member of the San Isidro Catholic Church in Garfield, NM. She always gave of herself and would help anyone in a time of need. Pila is survived by her brother Remigo F. Sanchez (Lupe), sister Micaela Sanchez, her children Armando (Cindy), Dolores (Steve), and Ernesto, her special nephew Mario Torres, She is also survived by her grandchildren Orlando (Nereida), and Derek (Kristi), seven Great - Grandchildren Arranise, Angelica, Andy, Xavier, Emiliano, Allison, and Nayeli, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Silvestre and Soledad Sanchez, her husband Juan Gutierrez, and her brothers Manual Sanchez, and Santiago Sanchez. Our family would like to say a very heart felt "Thank You" to the staff, nurses, and doctors of the New Mexico State Veterans Home. You took such excellent care of our Mom, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend. Your caring and compassion have been invaluable, and we thank you. We would like thank Jaime Aguilera and the staff of La Paz - Graham's Funeral Home for their wonderful care of our mother. Visitation for Pila will be today from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at San Isidro Catholic Church in Garfield where a prayer vigil will follow at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 01, 2010 also at the same church. Burial will follow at the Garfield Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.
