Michael attended Holy Cross and Las Cruces High School. He graduated from NMSU with a degree in marketing and worked in the area of marketing and advertising. Michael was happiest in the outdoors and spent much of his life camping, fishing and hunting with his father and brothers. He was a dedicated Democrat who was active in the local and state party and worked on numerous campaigns. He managed early campaigns for his sister, former New Mexico Attorney General, Patricia A. Madrid. He relished thoughtful, informed political debate and was especially fond of his Monday night political group. He always welcomed a competitive game of chess, and he wrote and appreciated poetry. Michael was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed by his family, but we are grateful he is at peace in the arms of our Lord who has given him a new song to sing (Psalm 40). He is survived by his beautiful, devoted and loving wife of thirty years, Inez, their two sons, Asher Paul Madrid and Michael Brandon Madrid, his grandchildren, Alyssa D. Madrid and Devon Tyler Madrid; his parents, Charles and Virginia (Mabel) Madrid; his brothers, Charles Madrid, Phillip Madrid and Paul Madrid; his sisters, the Hon. Patricia Madrid, Dr. Celeste Taylor and Cindy Madrid; his nieces, Celeste DeMars, Samantha Madrid, Jennifer Madrid Joyce; his nephews, Michael Taylor, Giancarlo Messina, Gian Quinn Madrid and Gage Madrid, Bengi, Eric, and Mathew De La O, Freddie and Jesse Armijo, and Jake Kay. A memorial service will be held at La Paz - Graham's Funeral Home, 555 W. Amador, Las Cruces, NM on Monday, June 07, 2010 at 7 p.m. Services have been entrusted to the care of La Paz - Graham's Funeral Home 555 West Amador Las Cruces, New Mexico 88005.
