Mario was born in Juárez on July 26, 1964 and immigrated to the United States at a young age. He moved to Minnesota as a teenager to receive cancer treatments. He met and married his wife there in 1995. They moved to Wisconsin and lived there until 2007 when they moved to Las Cruces. Mario's joy for his whole life has been the Lord and he was the happiest when he could be telling others about our Savior. He began studying for the ministry in 1996 and he achieved his goal to be an ordained pastor in July of 2010. He was called by Mission Lutheran Church, Las Cruces to be missionary to the Hispanics of Las Cruces and to pastor the Hispanic Mission, Rey de Reyes. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 15 years, Suzanne "Sue" (Toepke) Lozano; two sons, Emiliano and Antonio Lozano; one daughter, Melody Lozano; a great-niece and ward, Maricella Lozano; his mother, Maria Guadalupe Lozano Soto; two brothers, Raúl Vicente Lozano of Juárez, Sergio Anselmo Lozano and his wife Georgette of St.Paul, MN; 5 nieces, 4 nephews, 8 other great nieces and nephews; one uncle and aunt; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by two aunts and a cousin. Memorials can be given to "Mission Lutheran Church - Rey de Reyes" or "Lutheran Hispanic Missionary Institute" in his honor. The Lozano family would like to thank Dr. Bishnu Rauth for the expert, caring treatment and care given. She was 80 years old. Ila, the daughter of Dan Parker and Ella Rebecca Armstrong, was raised in Imperial, TX, where she graduated from Buena Vista High School in 1947. While attending Abilene Christian College, Ila met Edward McCaskill and they were married November 25, 1949. Ila and Edward enjoyed a rich and happy marriage for 53 years, and were blessed with four children, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Ila possessed a keen curiosity for life and always had a question ready for everyone. She loved nature, and was an avid gardener and turtle breeder. Her favorite flower was the blue bonnet because it reminded her of her childhood in Texas. Ila passed every day with a hymn on her lips and the Lord's scripture in her heart. Ila was preceded in death by her husband Edward, her brothers Harold and Carl Armstrong, and her grandson Matthew McCaskill. She is survived by her children Monty (Marion) McCaskill, of Davenport, FL; Cynthia Van Landingham, of Phoenix, AZ; Brenda (Bernie) McNamara; and Marcus (Pam) McCaskill, of Albuquerque, NM. Ila's family would like to gratefully recognize her dedicated and gentle caregivers, Patty Kaiser, Antonia Angel, Rachel Blumer, and Diedre Bond. Melinda Medd has departed our everyday life of the material and tangible world. During her lifetime, her life was defined by many acts of kindness, thoughtfulness, consideration, empathy, and goodness that exemplified a life well lived. Her courage and determination to live in that way are nothing less than extraordinary. She is surely bound now for an eternal realm that is considered to be spiritual, celestial, and heavenly. It is my hope that in that realm, she is at peace and surrounded by all of the good things we imagine and believe to exist there. She is so very deserving of such a place. Melinda is survived by her son, Jacob Riger, her daughter-in-law, Crystal Clinkenbeard, husband Lincoln Adkins, nieces, Lynn and Cathy and husband Tim Decker, and her beloved German Sheppard, Tava. Emilio was born May 22, 1925 in San Miguel to Francisco and Hortensia Martinez Parra. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during WWII as a Seaman First Class. He received his Associate Degree in carpentry from New Mexico Highlands University; retired from the Sanitation Department at White Sands Missile Range, and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his passing included his three daughters; Clara Betancourt, Gloria Quintanilla (Manuel) and Genny Provencio (Tony) all of Las Cruces; one brother, Frank Parra, Jr., (Gloria) of Mesquite; six grandchildren, Joey, David, Erika, Patrick, Angela and Marisa; eleven great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jocelynn, Carlos, Anthony, Justine, Adrian, Elijah, Makayla, Emma Rose, Anthony and Jaeden, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Maria Marquez Parra in 2006, son, Emilio Arturo Parra, a brother, Andres Parra, and a sister, Julia Silva. Joan was born in Rochester, TX to Rev. OL and Gladys Dennis on May 25, 1930. Joan moved with her family to Tucumcari, NM at age 3. The family moved to Hot Springs, NM when Joan was a freshman in high school. Their home was situated across the street from a long time Sierra County family named Hillger. Joan attended Harden Simmons University. Joan met and married the neighbor boy, Marvin. Joan and Marvin were married on February 23, 1952. Joan and Marvin have two children, Scott Hillger and Carol Glenn(Mark). Joan and Marvin were involved in the oil and gasoline business. IN 1970, Joan and Marvin expanded their business then making Las Cruces their home. Joan was the perfect partner both in life and in business to Marvin. Together they grew their business and their family. Hillger Oil Company became a very successful business that proved their business savvy and their partnership. Joan and Marvin traveled the world and together had many wonderful and great memories. Joan enjoyed many wonderful years working with the Auxiliary at Memorial medical Center taking pictures of newborns babies. Joan's greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren. Her optimistic and fun spirit always brought her family great joy. Joan is predeceased by her sister Pasty Clavel (Jody). She is survived by her husband of 59 years; her son Scott Hillger of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Carol Glenn (Mark) and three grandchildren, Cassie, Whitney, and Kamren. She is also survived by her brother Bryan Dennis of San Antonio, TX; many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends that loved her very much. "Negro" as he was fondly known to his family and friends was born December 16, 1921, in Anthony to Alejo and Elena Alvillar Aldaz. He served his country honorably in the United State Army during World War II and worked for the Bureau of Land Management as a maintenance man, and cook for the firefighters and volunteers of wild fires for many years. He was a communicant at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Consuelo Aldaz of the family home; two sons, Alejandro Aldaz Jr., and Bobby Aldaz both of Anthony; a daughter, Gloria Padilla and husband Luis of El Paso, Texas; a brother, Luis "Lichi" Aldaz of Las Cruces; a sister, Maggie Rosales of California. Richard was a man with a great love of the Catholic Church and his family. He was a member of the Basilica and Parish of San Albino, served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister, as well as working with the St Genevieve's Home and School Association. He enjoyed collecting stamps and was the Past President of the Las Cruces Stamp Club. Richard also had great joy listening to his classical music. He was a very kind, loving and patient husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include one son James Yankovic of Chicago, Illinois. Three daughters, Mary C. Modrich (Thomas) of Uiola, Wisconsin, Joan Piwowar of Brandon, Florida, and Dolores Green (Kenneth) of Chicago, Illinois. She was born March 16, 1914 in Jester, Oklahoma to Zazara Artimus Haston and Nanie Denley Haston. She worked as a High School Counselor at Riverside High School in the Yslete ISD in El Paso TX for 38 years. She became a Girl Scout in 1935 and remained an adult member until her death. She was the oldest member of the Girl Scouts in the USA. She was the Registrar of the Pine Springs Summer Camp working with her husband, and was a member of the Church of Christ. Oma was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association and Daughters of the Confederacy and Daughters of the American Revolution. Beside their own children Glenn and Oma had raised nine foster children. She is survived by her three daughters, Glyndolyn Nan Starr of T or C, NM; Oma Sue Bergstrom of Las Cruces, NM and Anita Kay Walker and her husband Michael of Berrien Springs, Michigan. Also surviving Oma are five grandchildren, J. Michael Starr, Diane Miller, Timothy Walker, Robert Walker and Oma Cathryn Fister; 10 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. Glenn and Oma also had surviving foster children, Rodolfo Rubio, Maria Rubio, Belkis Fernandez, and Linda Blake, and their children. Glenn C. Warwick her husband for 72 years and one foster child, Charlotte Molina proceeded Oma in death. Cissie, as she was known to family and friends, was born in the Territory of Hawaii on March 3rd, 1923 to Colonel Russell G. and Laurea Moore Ayers. She married Commander Roger F. Smith at the Presidio Officer's Club in San Francisco, CA on May 13, 1944. Cissie moved to Roseburg with her family in 1960. She worked in sales and production for KPIC-TV, and KQEN Radio. She was a member of the Roseburg Chapter of Zonta International, Izaak Walton League, a Den-mother for the Boy Scouts of America, and served as President of the St. George's Episcopal Church Women. Cissie moved to Las Cruces, NM in 2003, following Roger's death in 2001. She is survived by her brother, Col. Leslie Ayers, of Soquel, CA, children, Terryann Macke and husband James of Portland, OR, Roderick Smith of San Diego, CA, Russell Smith and wife Mercy of Las Cruces, NM, Maria Smith of Las Cruces, NM, and Laurea Arnoldt and husband Roy of Las Cruces, NM, 9 grand-children, and 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Rodney Smith and daughter Lesley B. Vaughns. There will be a private memorial in Las Cruces. Frank was born in Flint, Michigan on December 11, 1946 to Clinton and Sophie Pierce. Frank retired from General Motors in 1997 and moved to Las Cruces. He worked for a while at Wallace Chevrolet and at Matrix Capital Bank before joining his wife at Lanelle's Fox Florist. He retired completely in 2010. Frank was preceded in death by his brother, Michael and sister, Judy. He is survived by his wife, Terrie Lanelle, sons, Clinton Amos and wife, Kristen and Franklin Sean and wife. Angel. He was the proud grandfather of Calvin, Raquel and Marisa. He is also survived by his parents of Davison, Michigan, sister, Susie and sister, Fran. He was also loved by surviving nieces, nephews, aunts and friends. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at First Church of the Nazarene, 1900 S. Locust at 2:00 P.M.. Following her graduation from Mills College in Oakland, California in 1953, she met her future husband, George Sydney Anderson, while sailing to Europe. They were married in May 1955 and spent their married life in England. Gertrude was an avid golfer, an amazing cook and an intrepid traveler. She also loved gardening and quilting. She is survived by her daughter, Jenny and husband Lew Goodpasture of Las Cruces and their children Megan and Steven Minter; her son Vincent and wife Tracy of Upland, California and their children Christopher, Miles and Julia Anderson; her son Michael Anderson of Eye, England; her sister-in-law, Virginia Feather of Albuquerque and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband George, sisters Ilka and Mary, and brother, Frank. Cremation has taken place and services will be held in Colchester, England at a later date.
