Rachelle was 90 years old and had lived in Las Cruces since 1992. Born in New York City in 1920, Rachelle was the youngest of three children raised by Jacob and Molly Aboulafia, Turkish immigrants who came to America at the turn of the last century to find a better life. With her brothers, Max and David, they were children of the Great Depression and they often spoke of the horrors of the bread lines and ration coupons. As a teenager she met and eventually married Albert Petrowski to whom she was married for more than 55 years. In 1992 they moved to Las Cruces from New York to be closer to family. Rachelle will be laid to rest on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Masonic Cemetery, in accordance with the Jewish Customs. Rachelle is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Margaret Petrowski of Las Cruces; her grand-daughter Jaime Petrowski-Smith; her great-grandson Jakob Petrowski-Smith also of Las Cruces. The family will be receiving friends at her home from Sunday afternoon until Friday at 3 p.m., as per Jewish customs. In Lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the US Marine Corps Toys for Tots program, P.O. Box 7214, Las Cruces, NM 88006. Ruiz Sr., 77, a resident of Santa Clara, NM entered eternal rest Monday, June 14, 2010 at his residence. He was born August 23, 1932 to Ramon Ruiz and Margarita Placencio Nevarez Ruiz in Central, NM. Mr. Ruiz served in the Army during the Korean War as an MP. He was also in the National Guard. He loved the outdoors and loved hunting, fishing, camping, horses and his dogs. He was a commander of the VFW and member of the American Legion. He is survived by his loving wife of 58yrs, Connie (Medel) Ruiz of the family home; four sons, Jimmy Ruiz Jr., of Santa Clara; Robert J. Ruiz Sr. (Rosemary) of Santa Clara; John R. Ruiz of Santa Clara; Anthony J. Campos of Albuquerque; two daughters, Mary Helen Young (William) of Albuquerque; Esther M. Ruiz of Santa Clara; one sister, Rita R. Salaiz of El Paso, TX; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; two aunts, Tito Nevarez of Hurley and Alice Gandara of Belen, NM; one brother-in-law, Juan Becerra; five cousins, Frankie Johnston, Alice Diaz, Annie Chavez from Deming; Perciliano Romero of Las Cruces and Albert Baca. Jack was born in Liberal, KS December 6, 1941 to Isam Harry and Bertha Lee Harrison. Jack's mother and father, brothers Gene, Donald and Richard preceded him in death. Jack was the youngest of 6 children. He graduated from Liberal High School in 1959 and from Wichita Business College in 1964. Jack was employed by National Helium & Nash Finch Warehouse in Liberal, KS. before Jack established H & W Electrical Service in 1976, serving the Liberal community for 25 years. Jack is survived by his wife of 51 years, Anna Fay Harrison and three sons, Patrick Jack and wife Debbie of Oklahoma City, Michael Richard and wife Kari of Silver City, NM and Timothy Shawn and wife Guadalupe of Kansas City, KS, grandchildren Monica Harrison of Oklahoma City, Mandy Harrison of Kansas City, KS, and Dustin Hunt of Houston, TX. Jack's brother William Dean (Bill) and wife Helen of Liberal, KS and his sister, Patsy Rodkey of Coos Bay, Oregon and many treasured nieces and nephews. After high school graduation and marriage in 1959, the newly weds moved to Wichita KS. After graduation from Wichita Business College, Jack worked for National Helium in Liberal, KS for more than 12 years in both the accounting department and as a Yield Clerk. Jack enjoyed working for Nash Finch Warehouse while learning the electrical business from his good friend Jim Rogers and his father-in-law Gene Wright. Jack and Gene Wright established H & W Electrical Service. All 3 sons have worked in the business at different times. Following Anna's dream of living in the mountains of New Mexico, Jack & Anna arrived in Silver City, NM in 1999. Jack loved life in New Mexico especially enjoying the wildlife of the area, his pets and his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, July 24th at 10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Deacon Jerry Miller and Don Dykhouse officiating. Born March 10, 1968 in San Jose, California, to Mary Mancha, Patrick attended Valley View Elementary, Zia Junior High and graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1986. On December 17, 1985, he married Melissa Leyba of Silver City, New Mexico. Patrick lived most of his life in Las Cruces. Patrick has been a dedicated employee of ColorTyme for 14 years, during which he received numerous awards and vacation bonuses for his commitment to service and excellence in sales. As District Manager and in his previous leadership positions Patrick was highly respected and well liked by employees of all ranks, leading the store to receive the Platinum award in sales. Patrick will be especially remembered for his devotion and love for his family, quick wit, generous and fun loving nature, and as a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan. He is known at ColorTyme as the Ping-Pong champion of the company. Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Melissa, beloved children, Andrea, Desiree, Isiah and Jacob, grandson Alejandro, his mother Mary Mancha and brothers Cruz Mancha of Las Cruces, Rafael Ruiz of Kirkland, Washington, and sisters Magdalena Mancha and Victoria Ruiz of San Jose, California. Patrick was also central to lives of his 11 nieces and nephews as well as their children. A viewing will be held 5pm to 6pm, Friday, June 18, 2010, at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave., Las Cruces, NM 88001. A prayer vigil will be held immediately following the viewing at Immaculate Heart of Mary church, 1240 S Espina St, Las Cruces, NM 88001 at 7 pm Friday, June 18, 2010. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Immaculate Heart of Mary church beginning at 10 am. Burial will follow at St. Jose's Cemetery. She graduated from Las Cruces High School in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She moved to Anchorage in 1987. She married Howard Patten at Spirit Lake in Kenai on June 11, 2000. They moved to Hamilton, Mont. in 2002 and returned to Kenai in 2005. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and reading. "Nan loved and lived life to the fullest. She loved her husband, family and friends deeply, always giving her love unconditionally. She loved all animals, great and small, especially her cat, Paz." "Nan's beauty, quick wit and wonderful sense of humor could make you laugh and cry at the same time.
