He was a Charter member of the Mesilla Valley Concert Band, New Horizons Concert Band, and The Band of The Rio Grande. He is survived by son Charles and daughter Carolyn Susan Stoffel, and sister Audrey Schillo. Charles was preceded in death by wife Anita, and son Thomas. Olayo, 81, a longtime resident of Las Cruces entered eternal rest Saturday, September 04, 2010 at La Posada - Mesilla Valley Hospice surrounded by her family and loved ones. Maria was born May 11, 1929 in Mesa, Arizona. Her pride and joy were he nine children whom she raised as a single parent as a result of being widowed. When she was still driving she became as avid bingo player and was fondly known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Grandma/Mama Bingo." She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly caller her "Cita." Her time also consisted of taking her grandkids to help her out at her son's property to pull weeds and feed the animals. She is survived by five sons, Simon Olayo, Joe (Liz) Olayo, Ramon (Hilda) Olayo, Oscar (Sandra) Olayo and Salvador (Maria) Olayo; four daughters, Cruz (Charlie) McCrary, Socorro Olayo Polanco, Martha O. (Andy) Triste, Nena Olayo King. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Mabel, Susie, Joey, Ramon Jr., Bobby, Pati, Crystal, Becky, John Michael, Bobby McCrary, Oscar Jr., Mary Ann, David, Felicia, JR, Brianna, Daniel, Jessica, Vero, Andrea, Javi, Lesley, Wesley, Marcos, Diane, BO, CJ, Joseph, and 46 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Olayo and a great-grandson, Robert Andrew Olayo I. Guadalupe "Lupe" Carrillo De La O, fondly known as "Wella", passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, September 07, 2010 at her daughter Emilia's home, where she resided, surrounded by her loving family. Lupe was born August 15, 1912 in Las Cruces to Felix and Carlotta Marquez Carrillo. On October 06, 1934 she married the love of her life, Thomas De La O, and moved to Doña Ana where they created a beautiful loving home. Lupe was a devoted and active member of Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church. She was a great cook and enjoyed and helping out at the bingo sessions, as well as working the precincts at election time. Lupe touched many lives in her 98 years here on earth. Those left to mourn her passing included her son, Daniel De La O and wife Margie; her daughter, Emilia Medina; daughter-in-law, Nora De La O, and a special grand-son, Jaime Trevino, whom she raised like a son, all of Doña Ana. Other survivors include twelve grandchildren, Viola Clark (Eddie), Jack Medina, Rey Medina (companion, Cassandra Herrera), David Medina (Victoria), Ben Medina (Vanessa), Yvonne Landavazo (Frank), Steve De La O (Kathy), Tommy De La O (Dolores) Carol De La O, Paul De La O (Trini), Ronnie De La O (fiancé, Naomi Cardon), and Valerie Monsivaiz, as well as twenty four great-grandchildren, seventeen great-great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Lupe is welcomed into heaven by her loving husband of forty-six years, Thomas De La O, her parents, daughter, Lucy Trevino, son, Benny De La O, grandson, Ricardo Trevino, son-in-law, Manuel "Bay" Medina, six brothers and one sister. She is now in heaven, joyfully reunited with her relatives, husband and beloved pets. She is survived by one sister, Maureen (Jack) VanBrooker; four nieces and nephews, Julie, Jodi (Michael Uhrig), John and Mike (Terri Boyle) VanBrooker; and one daughter and son-in-law, Bridget and Christian K. Monrad of Tucson. Kathleen was born to George and Mary Lynaugh in 1944. She was born in Buffalo, N.Y. and raised in Canandaigua, where she attended St. Mary's School through eighth grade and graduated from Canandaigua Academy. She worked for 17 years with the Veterans Administration. She then worked with the United States Department of Agriculture in Maryland and Washington D.C., after moving there in 1980, with her daughter Bridget, to marry William Montgomery. Kathleen retired to Las Cruces, N.M. with Bill and they enjoyed traveling to worldwide destinations and most of the United States in their recreational vehicle. She moved to Tucson in 2006. Kathleen was passionate about animals all of her life and enjoyed volunteering with animal rescue groups, especially with retired racing greyhounds. Kathleen passed on her true love of animals to her daughter Bridget, to whom pets were brothers and sisters growing up. Bridget now considers pets her children and continues her passion for them through her career with animals and their owners. Kathleen will be laid to rest with her husband, at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Arizona Greyhound Rescue or a favorite animal charity. He was taken from us too soon, but his life will be celebrated as one lived with honor, courage and love. Born in 1953 in El Paso, Texas, he was preceded in death by his parents Angela G. Rodriguez and Refugio "Cuco" Rodriguez. Ed is survived by two siblings, Martha Ann and Paul Charles Rodriguez, and an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, who loved him dearly. After graduating from Mayfield High School in 1971, he attended New Mexico State University where he received his BS in Police Science. Upon graduation in 1976, Ed began his long career with the United States Government, serving a total of 25 years. In 1976, he joined the United States Coast Guard, serving in Long Beach, California, where he earned the rank of Lieutenant (LTJG). After being honorably discharged from the Coast Guard, in 1988 he became a Border Patrol Agent for the San Diego Sector in Campo, California. Ed continued his service to this country when he began employment as a Customs Inspector with the United States Customs Service, where he worked for 15 years. In 2003, when the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was created, Ed became a Customs and Border Protection Officer, a position he held until his death. In his 30's, Ed was an avid Skier and instructor at Sierra Blanca, N.M., where he taught several cousins the joy of skiing. Ed was joined in the after! life by his beloved dog Nicky just days after his own death. May they find peace and walk through the gates of heaven together. Vigil Service will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 10:45 a.m. with a mass of Christian. She stayed in West Virginia until she was a senior in high school, and left many cousins, aunts and uncles and friends that she kept in touch with regularly, to move with her parents to Chandler, Arizona in 1949. She began her studies at the University of Arizona, and after a year, moved her studies to Arizona State University where she met the love of her life, John Knox Stewart. They married on April 07, 1954, one month before they both graduated from Arizona State University. Her degree was a Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics. Shortly after graduation, they began their adventure of life together; her's as an officer's Army wife. During John's career, they made 26 moves in 23 years! Her constant words that she lived by were, "you can be happy wherever you are, and a place is what you make it." During those years, they had three daughters, Cheri, Lori and Paula. She was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother that continued to teach all of us by example. She was involved in many volunteer organizations, as well as initiating groups. Some of those were, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, Red Cross Volunteer, VA Clinic Volunteer, Daughter's of the American Revolution Stoddert-Del Norte Chapter, Gold Star Wives of America El Paso Del Norte Chapter, Society of Military Widows Desert Sun Chapter 30, and the Retired Officers Wives Club. She always had a smile on her face, and greeted everyone with a warm hospitality. Our friends, her grandchildren's friends, all wanted them to be her mom and grandma, we wanted no other. She had the opportunity to touch lives around the world, and her graciousness left warmth in many hearts. They retired after a tour at Ft. Bliss, Texas in 1978, and made their home in El Paso, where she continued to be involved in the military community. She moved to Las Cruces one year ago, w! as diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's) Disease in December 2009. She faced that stage in her life with an amazing courage, an ever-present smile, which continued to teach all of us by example of how to live by faith. Her faith in our Lord Jesus Christ never waivered, and we know that HE filled her with peace, courage and strength to face ALS. She graduated peacefully to Glory on Saturday night, with her three daughters at her side, along with many family members holding her hands. She was preceded in death by her parents, French and Mary Elizabeth Steele, her brother French Steele at age 13 from leukemia, the love of her life, John Knox Stewart, who died from an Agent Orange related illness in 1995. She is survived and will be missed greatly by those that remain here, daughters, Cheri (Gene) Love, Lori (Victor) Sustaita, Paula (Glenn) Cook, grandchildren Alana (Brent) Lambert, James Love, Brian Love, Trevor Love, Palmer (fiancé Mary Greer) Love, Lance (Amy) Sustaita, Logan Sustaita, Jeff (Karla) Wheeler, great-grandchildren, twins Noah and Sydney Lambert. Vicente served his country honorably in the United States Air Force as A/1C from June 06, 1951 to June 7, 1955, his tour of duty included Alaska and the Kwajalein Islands; he received the good conduct medal. Vicente retired with the City of Las Cruces Fire Department in 1986 with the rank of Captain. In 1991 he was given the rank of Honorary Battalion Chief. Vicente had many hobbies including deer hunting, arrow head hunting, but one of his favorite pass times was playing dominoes at Cush'N Cue. He was a devout catholic and was a member of Our Lady of Health Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Ernestina Barela, brother Cristobal and Willie Barela, Sister's Carmen Leyva and Consuelo Madrid. He is survived by three sister's Natalia Vigil, Josie Barela, and Ernestine Martinez, one brother Ralph Barela and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home with the prayer vigil to follow at 7 p.m. also at Getz. The funeral mass will be given at 10 a.m. Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Our Lady of Health Catholic Church. Cremation will follow honors presented by the Las Cruces Fire Department and the United States Air Force. The rite of committal will be given at the Our Lady of Health columbarium at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be the active and retired members of the Las Cruces Fire Department. Arrangements by Getz Funeral Home, corner of Bowman Ave. and Solano. It was for a "Vidal Margarita Quinones". Her father was listed as Felipe Quinones (f=Antonio Quinones, m= Isadora Galbadon. Felipe was married to Jacinta Villa (f=Jose Maria Villa, m=Polonia Madrid). I am sorry I don't have any dates to give you. There was also information regarding a "Francisca Quinones" who's parents were Felipe and Maria Isadora Quinones. Francisca married a Maria Jesus Sevallos (Ceballos) on 14 July 1882 in Casas Grandes, NM. I hope this information helps you. Was Jose Estaban Quinones, Felipe's father? He was my g-g-great grandfather. Jose's father was Francisco Quinones.....wow...that goes back to 1783.
