Armitage, 53, of Las Cruces. On Monday, December 6, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center, he suffered complications of a stroke due to heart problems. He was born August 30, 1957 in Craig, Colorado to Roger and Rosalie Visintainer Armitage. Ryan was employed at White Sands Missile Range - Newtec as a Precision Fires Test Technician. Ryan was a member of the New Mexico Desert Racing Club, the SCORE series and, formerly coached his kids baseball teams, and currently was an assistant soccer coach for the Vipers U12. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Ryan provided more than necessary for his family; he showed what true giving of the heart is. Coming in a very close second was his passion for dirt bikes. He just wanted to go fast and be with his desert riding friends. They were all so proud to know him and were honored to witness the desert full moon. We will miss you Ryan and the many laughs you brought to this world. Survivors include the love of his life, wife, Dora Zamora Armitage of the family home; two sons, Travys Armitage and Aaron Gravatt; three daughters, Taryn, Ryanna and Kayla Armitage; his mother, Rosalie Armitage; two sisters, Robin Harrison, Rhonda Armitage all of Las Cruces. He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Russell Armitage. Recitation of Holy Rosary will be held at 6 PM Sunday, December 12, 2010 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Liturgy at 10 AM Monday, December 13, 2010 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Pastor Onelio went home to be in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, on November 18, 2010 in Quito, Ecuador, after a two year battle with cancer. His service allowed him to pastor five churches in Cuba before being exiled to Ecuador. While in Ecuador he planted two churches and also served as Missionary to the Shuar Tribes in the Ecuadorian jungle, for the past 10 years. He was also pastor of churches in Houston and Grapevine TX, and Las Cruces NM at Calvary Christian Center. He was also instrumental in the planting of La Paz de Cristo, A.G. Simpson, 66, passed away on December 8, 2010 at home with her family by her side after fighting a life-long illness. Julie was born March 9, 1944 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Harry and Marguerite Cunningham- Arnold; she was the youngest of eleven children. Julie attended St. Edmonds High School and lived in Fort Dodge most of her younger life. It was there where Julie met and fell in love with Robert F. Simpson. They soon married, made their home in Iowa and had five wonderful children. In 1986 they moved to Las Cruces, NM and later to Ada, OK until their retirement upon which they returned to NM and live in Santa Teresa. Julie was known as a NM advocate for establishing laws to help the disabled. She was invited in 1992 to join Jerry Lewis and represent the state of NM at the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon and later received a personal achievement award from Mr. Lewis. Although Julie fought Muscular Dystrophy most of her life, this never slowed her down and she was always known be on the go with a smile on her face while accomplishing her dreams. Julie challenged life and lived with Muscular Dystrophy for 54 years. Julie attended New Mexico State University where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in Journalism and two Master's degrees. Julie was a teacher and loved working with her students as well as being very involved with music, piano and loved to sing. Julie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Robert F. Simpson, daughter; Rebecca Simpson and Debbie Sweem, Las Cruces, NM, daughter; Rachel Luhmann Vick and Tony, Ada, OK, son; Robert S. Simpson and Colleen, Ada, OK, daughter; Rae Lynn Gough and Alfredo, Santa Teresa, NM, son; Russell H. Simpson, Ada, OK. Martha Roberta Bethea was born in Florence, SC on March 4, 1922, the daughter of William Nathan and Annie Galloway Bethea. During her childhood and school years, she lived with her parents and siblings in several small towns near Florence in northeast South Carolina. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in nursing. In 1944, Martha married Army 2nd Lt. Jackson L. Wilson; and during his military & civil service careers-plus retirement in Las Cruces, NM, they shared life (for over 58 years) in Japan, Germany, and several states in the U.S. Martha was devoted to serving her family and friends- always placing their welfare above hers. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Blue Bells Square Dance Club in Las Cruces. Martha's loving presence was cherished by all her family, and she will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, a sister, and a grandson and survived by her children, Anne (Roger) Lemon, Viola, KS; Jack (Candis) Wilson, Destin, FL; Nate (Selma) Wilson, Lubbock, TX; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Rosalie Goodson, Hartsville SC, Ohlyne Williamson, Greenville NC, and Peggy (Glenn) Freeman, Hartsville SC; one brother Bill (Erlene) Bethea, McColl SC; and many nieces & nephews. Barbara was born to Joseph M. Luton and Barbara Crittenden on May 1, 1926 in Gillette, Wyoming. In her early 20's she and her mother came to Arizona by bus from Wyoming pulling off layers of clothing the closer they go to Arizona. Barbara worked for Mountain Bell in Douglas, AZ. She met her future husband Les Floyd when her girlfriend talked her into going out on Christmas Eve. 14 days later they married January 7, 1950. Her travels took her to Germany, Arizona, Texas, and finally back to Douglas, AZ for approximately 40 plus years. Barbara was a long standing member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church - involved with many rummage sales. She also belonged to The Order of the Eastern Star - Pearl of Venus Chapter #6. She worked in many of the school cafeterias in Douglas as a cook and baker, transporting food from one school to another. Barbara was also proud of her Cherokee heritage. For the last 5 years of her life she had made Las Cruces her home living with her daughter Jeanette favorite son in law Terrell. She is survived by her children Clay Floyd and Jeanette Gresham and favorite 4 grandchildren, Tyrell (Venisa), Cheylan (Jennifer) Gresham. Chris (Caleb) Floyd and 2 great grand children Kory, Haylie Gresham. She was preceded in death by her husband Les Floyd, Parents siblings Henry, Kenneth, Lavina, Geneva, Helen. He was honored by many as "Don Genaro" and served in life as a farmer in the Mesilla Valley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Lucero DiMatteo; a daughter, Alice Sanchez. Survivors include two daughters, Minerva Belczak and husband Tom, Christina DiMatteo; three sons, Edward DiMatteo and wife Elizabeth Camuñez, James DiMatteo and wife Mary Ray, and Ernest DiMatteo and wife Lorraine Serna. She was born on June 10th, 1929 to Evelyn Krefft and Edward Neville in Detroit, Michigan. Dotty's mother died when she was only three. Later, the family moved to Hammond, Indiana. There, her father married Alice Miller, adding two more daughters to the family. In 1948 she married Wayne Baillie, a Navy veteran, and worked for Sinclair Oil in Whiting, Indiana. They moved to Markham, Illinois and in 1955 they adopted a baby boy, Richard. Richard passed away on August 4th, 2008. Dotty's loving family and many friends remember her as a thoughtful and generous person. She enjoyed camping, travel, and excelled in arts and crafts. When friends gathered around the piano at home she would lead the group in singing the old favorites. Wayne retired in 1984 and they moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico. Dotty is survived by her husband; grand-daughters Allison and Becky Baillie; sisters, Jackie Bultema of Hammond, Indiana, Gerri Brown of Whiting, Indiana, Rosemary and Lloyd Baillie of Plano Texas. She is also survived by 35 nieces and nephews in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Indiana. In 1943, she completed her bachelor's degree in Home Economics at the present-day Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. Following graduation, she moved to St. Louis, MO, where she worked in a TNT factory in support of the war effort and, later, for Ralston Purina. Following her passion for nursing, she entered a three-year course of instruction as a "Graduate Nurse" at the Beth-el School of Nursing of Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. After becoming a Registered Nurse in 1947, she held several nursing and teaching positions in Colorado and New Mexico, including two years of service at the former Carrie Tingley Hospital for Crippled Children in Truth or Consequences, NM. She obtained her Master's degree in Nursing at the University of Texas in 1957, starting studies with a single semester at the Austin campus. During her first week of classes, she met James Billings, whom she ultimately married after 7 years of long-distance correspondence. Miriam and her family lived in Quito, Ecuador as part of the Alianza para el Progreso (Alliance for Progress). Following her return to the United States, Miriam held positions as a Registered Nurse and as a Professor of Nursing in Arizona, Arkansas, and Texas. Miriam and her husband moved to Del Rio, TX in 1982, where she established a nursing program at the local hospital and was active in her local church and in the Cactus Twirlers square dance club. She enjoyed travelling and served on several Volunteers in Mission groups under the auspices of the United Methodist Church. One of her proudest accomplishments was her role in the construction and ongoing support of the Nueva Fuente de Vida (New Fountain of Life) children's home in Ciudad Acuña, across the Mexican border from Del Rio. Miriam and Jim moved to Las Cruces, NM in 2001, where they became active members of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and the Blue Belles square dance club. Miriam is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Dr. James J. Billings and by her daughter, Karen Billings, both of Las Cruces. Family survivors include her brother and sister, Mark Longfield (Marie) of Pueblo, CO and Betty Brown (Maurice) of Sacramento, CA, as well as two nieces and three nephews: Katie Stevenson (John) of Santa Fe, NM, Doug Longfield, of Albuquerque, NM, Joanne MacFarland (Doug) of San Jose, CA, and by Ken Brown (Linda) and David Brown (Mary Sue) of Sacramento CA. Miriam was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service to celebrate Miriam's life will be held in the Chapel of the Health Care Center at the Good Samaritan Society - Las Cruces Village on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 2:00 PM, with the Rev. Joan Swanson officiating. Martin served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps and served as a Custody Officer for the Newport Beach Police Department. He was also a member of Las Cruces First Assembly of God Church. Martin was well known in Biker community as "Big Dogg". Martin is survived by his wife Roberta "Birdie" of Las Cruces; four sons, Michael Dominguez of Mesquite, NM; Martin Joseph Lopez, Jr. of Hattisburg, MS; Steven Lopez of Huntington Beach, CA; and Nicholas Lopez of Huntington Beach, CA. one daughter, Jessica Aldaz and husband Victor of Anthony, NM. Two stepchildren, Isaac Alvarez and Andrea Alvarez both of Las Cruces, NM. He has five brothers, Joe Lopez of San Antonio, TX; Alfred Lopez of Las Vegas, NV; "Chon" Lopez of Las Cruces, NM; Tony Lopez of Phoenix, AZ; and Albert Lopez of El Paso, TX. Also surviving is two sisters, Mary Perez of Las Vegas, NV and Gloria Lewis of Las Cruces, NM; five grandchildren, Dustin, Richard, Lucas, Jackson Aldaz and Raelynn Dominguez. Martin was preceded in death by his brother Miguel Lopez, Sr, and his mother Carmen Lopez. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home. He was born in Las Cruces, on November 2, 1939 to Felipe and Flora Lopez. Sonny is survived by his mother Flora Lopez of Las Cruces; his brothers and sisters: Rudy of Paso Robles, CA, Larry and wife Enadina of Houston, TX, Deborah and husband Roger Ralph of Las Cruces, Paula Lopez and husband Michael Dillard of Houston, TX, Patrick and significant other Annabel Tiberi of Santa Fe, NM, and Eric and wife Tracy of Dallas, TX. He attended New Mexico College of Agriculture and Arts, now known as NMSU, for several years before moving to Gallup, NM where he worked many years, on the graveyard shift, for the New Mexico State Port Authority, as an Inspector, and then transferred to Anthony, NM working for the Anthony Port of Entry location, where he retired in 1993. He then moved back to Las Cruces to be near his mother Flora so that he could take care of her. Sonny enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, coin collecting, playing Chess, the lottery and pool, and was an accomplished bowler as evidenced by his numerous trophies. These activities gave him great enjoyment as he had Cerebral Palsy making motor skill functions difficult. Family was his first and most consuming love. He is and will always be remembered, by all, for his unwavering sense of good, wit, tenacity, kindness, wisdom and generosity. Child, Brother, Uncle, Friend you are, and will always be missed. Rosary for Sonny will be held Friday, December 3, 2010 at 7 PM in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1327 North Miranda Street. He was a resident of Elephant Butte since 1998. Before moving to Elephant Butte he made his home in Las Cruces for 40 years. Bill served his country in the US Navy from 1947 through 1951 and retired from civil service at White Sands Missile Range after 35 plus years. He was an Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge, Las Cruces Chapter 1119. Bill was a past officer of the Elephant Butte Bass Anglers. Bill enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Madeline of the home, his sons Steve A. and David L. (Marina), four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three half bother and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. A visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home.
