Gaytha was born May 26, 1943 in Pampa, Texas, to Edwin and Elsie Airington. She was a former Correctional Officer retiring from F.C.I La Tuna, Federal Bureau of Prisons in 1997. Gaytha, her friends and family called her "Gay", was fun and outgoing. She enjoyed classic movies, musicals, history, playing Tetris and she had an infinite love for the Dallas Cowboys. Gay was one of the most interesting persons one could hope to meet, smart; she could answer nearly any trivia question put in front of her. She spent her life working to support all of her children and in the end, her will to live was a courageous and inspiring event. This world is definitely short of a good woman who loved her family and was loved by so many. The sadness is deep and humbling and should remind us that life is precious and so short. She will be missed tremendously and remembered forever. Always dealt a bad hand of cards, Gay's pe! rseverance and determination was a fine example of how we all should live our lives. Driven, honest and always with a good sense of humor she could make you laugh even in a darkest hour, there aren't enough words to express what an inspiration she has been and one could only hope to feel a fraction of the love she was capable of giving. She was beautiful, in every way there is to be beautiful. through her suffering she remained, vigilant, strong and extremently unselfish. So often life throws you curve balls and Gay never faltered, she went with it and learned from it and taught us some lessons that you can't learn from nothing else but life, one can never give up. She will be in our thoughs forever and until we meet her again, we should remember something she always said: "God wouldn't give us anything we couldn't handle", she proved that. Our mother, our friend, your love was unconditional and we'll see you when we get there. Preceded in death by her father, Thomas Edwin Airington. She is survived by her mother, Elsie Airington, Children: Denise O'Neal, Tammy Mays and her husband John, Duane Leeth, Lori Elizondo and Samantha Gamboa and her husband Rick. Brothers: Dwight Airington and his wife Sandy, Tom Airington and his wife Sylvia. She also had 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and numerous neice and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Mark Leatherwood, whom she loved, who never gave up on her and who was such a huge support throughout the years, up until the very end. You weren't just her doctor; you are a good man and her friend. Roseann Gomez your support through all of this was angelic; she couldn't have love you more if you had been her own daughter. Also, thanks to the I.C.U. nurses at Mountain View, who at such a sad time brought peace and happiness to her when she needed it the most. Services will be held Monday, December 20, 2010 at University Presbyterian Church in Las Cruces, NM: viewing at 9:00 A.M., service at 10:00 A.M., then Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Boxwell Brother's Funeral Directors in Claude, TX at 10:00 A.M. with graveside services following at Goodnight Cemetery in Goodnight, Texas at 11:30 A.M. Author: marcenath Surnames: Moore, Senft, Page Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newmexico.counties.donaana/5046/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Jim J. Moore, "JJ" was finally defeated in his long match against Parkinson's disease on November 14, 2010. JJ was always a tough competitor and possessed skills that helped him become one of the highest ranked tennis players in the southwest and a golfer that could play with the best of them. Jim, the beloved son of Edna Senft Page (deceased at age 102), was born in Harrison, Arkansas on January 31, 1935. As a youth, JJ was a responsible, well-liked student, earning him the honor of being chosen to represent his high school at Arkansas' Boy's State. He excelled in athletics, "lettering" in several sports and was a talented writer. He graduated from Harrison High School in 1953. After graduation JJ attended Arkansas State Teacher's College for two years. There he received an "A" in slide rule and Mechanical Drawing. He then went on to attend the University of Arkansas and Southern Methodist University >From April 1958 to October 1958, JJ did his military basic training. He was honorably released from active duty and became a National Guard reservist. He served for several years and enjoyed telling stories about the fun they had at Reserve Training each summer in Louisiana. Sometime in 1960 JJ and his mom moved to Las Cruces. JJ worked for a private contractor documenting the modifications to the White Sands Missile Range radar and optics electronics. In 1967 JJ went to an island in the Pacific called Kwajalein, one of the Marshall Islands, and continued to work in electronics and design from 1967 to 1973. He loved working on Kwaj and again had great stories to tell of his "resort type" living on the island. Golfing, basketball and fast pitch softball filled much of his time, but it was on Kwaj that he discovered his true love, tennis, when he lived right next door to the courts. Upon his return from the island, JJ became a tennis aficionado extraordinaire. He lived and breathed tennis. He traveled all over the southwest playing tournaments and soon became one of the top-ranked tennis players in the southwest as witnessed by the hundreds of trophies that lined his walls. His home became a base-camp for many tennis players, old and young, as he rented his spare room to the NMSU Tennis Team players and always had a match on the TV that would draw your attention and force you to sit awhile. You never knew who might run into at JJ's as tennis players came and went all day long. He strung rackets to support his tennis habit and kept detailed notes on the string type, tensions and dates that he strung. The players loved this and for a long while he was the best stringer in town. Every tennis player knew JJ. JJ continued to play tennis as long as his body would allow and was active in Senior Olympics. Many of us remember when his shoulder began to give him trouble and he suddenly became "Lefty Moore". When his knees finally gave out, he went back to playing golf, buying a lifetime membership at the NMSU course. That year, in an effort to get his "monies worth" he played golf almost every single day of the year, missing only three days. At times, many of us envied the life he led. JJ will be remembered for his quick wit, his friendship, his ability to fix anything, his indescribable driving techniques and so much more. There will be no services. A few years ago we had a party to honor JJ, he was there with us to share in the stories, laugh with us and know that he was loved. If you would like to make a contribution in JJ's name, you might consider donating to the Las Cruces Tennis Association or towards the fight against Parkinson's disease. As one friend said, "Along with JJ goes a remnant of a time planted hard in my memory in which tennis racquets, strings, scrape tape and plastic trophies played a big part." Thanks for the memories JJ and get those courts ready for us, we'll be seeing you in the next round. She was born to Frederick and Bernice Hoff on January 17, 1945 at Chicago, Illinois. Both parents and a brother, Fred Jr., preceded her in death. Maryann spent most of her adult life in Marin County California where she tirelessly reared her sons, Mark and Matthew, while serving as a devoted spouse to her husband, Michael. She served in many volunteer positions connected with the education and development of her sons and service to the community at large. Whether it was at school, as team mom, scorekeeper, baseball league executive, or Chamber of Commerce, she was always ready to serve. Later she was employed for a number of years with the Physical Therapy Department at Kaiser Hospital, San Rafael, California. Maryann left the following words for her many friends and relatives in a poem by Joey Beighley: "Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow, but remember me in every tomorrow. I've only gone to rest for a little while. Although my leaving causes some pain and grief, my going has eased my hurt and given me relief. So dry your eyes and remember me, not as I am now, but as I used to be. Remember the joy, the laughter, and the smiles, because I will remember each of you with a smile as I look on from above. As long as I have the love of each of you, I will live my life in your hearts." Maryann is survived by Michael of Las Cruces, New Mexico, her husband and soul mate of 43 years; son Mark Edward Bergdorf and his spouse Griselda Carvajal Bergdorf of Sacramento, California, and their sons Luke Matthew Bergdorf and Spencer Drake Bergdorf; and son Matthew Brian Bergdorf of Louisville, Colorado. Also surviving is her extended family including sister Kris Silva of Sacramento, uncle Clarence Kure and cousin Kathy Kure of Chicago, Illinois and numerous nieces, nephews, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, and friends all of whom cared and loved her deeply. Maryann is also now reunited with the many loved ones who have preceded her in death. Also surviving is her wonderful and devoted doggie, Lakota, and her beloved San Francisco 49er's, a team that thrilled her and chilled her for well over 30 years. Maryann wanted to express thanks to the many physicians, nurses, hospitals and clinics that fought so hard to extend her life against formidable odds. Special thanks are offered to her personal physician, Richard Ross, M.D., and the personnel at the Southern New Mexico Cancer Center and the Memorial Hospital Infusion Center at Las Cruces for their superb attention throughout the long fight. Additionally, Maryann would certainly want to compliment the superb services of the Mesilla Valley Hospice in their handling of limited life expectancy care. Services will be held in California in the spring. In lieu of flowers, and only if you so choose, small donations to either the American Cancer Society or the Lymphoma/Leukemia Society would be appreciated to aid in the fight for a permanent cure for all cancers. Author: marcenath Surnames: Coyle, Scott, Burgander Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newmexico.counties.donaana/5036/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Beloved husband, father, and grandfather William (Bill) Bain Coyle entered eternal life on December 15, 2010 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice. He was born June 29, 1927 in San Pedro, California. Bill is survived by wife Mary Lou, daughters Bonnie Moen, Vicky Smith and husband Bob, Kris Lane and husband Curtis, sons Bill Coyle Jr. and wife Penny, Leonard (Bud) Coyle, daughter-in-law numerous great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Eva, brother Claude Scott, daughter Kitty Burgander and son Alvin Coyle. Bill spent 83 years on Earth making a mark everywhere he went. As a student in the 1930's and early 40's he often challenged his school teachers academically. He graduated from high school early so that he could join the US Navy during World War II where he served as a UDT squad member at the Battle of Okinawa. He served again when Uncle Sam called during the Korean War where he suffered the wound to his back that caused life-long pain and eventually lead to his death. Bill spent over 30 years as a civilian working for the US Army, (including a period of time in Viet Nam) where he helped to develop early software and hardware systems. He retired from WSMR in 1976 to focus on family and to enjoy his hobbies. As a teenager during the Great Depression, Bill was a competitive swimmer and snow skier in Utah and Idaho. He loved the outdoors including hunting, camping, and fishing. He passed this love on to his children. Before family and work took most of his time, he loved fixing! up old cars. When time allowed he enjoyed woodworking but he really found his life's passion upon retirement when he began rock-hunting and jewelry making. Many of his friends and family members still wear beautiful bolo-ties, belt buckles, rings, etc. that he made for them. An amazing skill that baffled all his family members was that he could multiply 5 digit numerals in his head. He loved to read and tell stories. Later in life he developed a deep fondness for audio books. As anyone who ever talked with him can attest, he was an accomplished debater. Upon learning of his passing, his V.A. doctor referred to Bill as a "True Gentleman." In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to La Posada, Mesilla Valley Hospice.
