Muniz Saturday, February 7, 2004 3:37 PM MST Blas E. Muniz passed away on FebRuary 3, 2004, in Grants. He was 83. He was born on Feb. 3, 1921, in Fierro, N. M. to Jose Muniz and Teodora Espinosa Muniz. Mr. Muniz served his country in the US Army; He was a veteran of World War II. He was active with the Grants Senior Citizens Center. He was also a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church. He is survived by two sons; Raul Muniz and his wife April of Denver, Colo., Ruben Muniz and his wife Tammie of Albuquerque; two daughters Corina Sandoval and her husband Alvino of San Mateo and Margaret Padilla and her husband Steve of Milan; one brother Jose Muniz and his wife Consuelo of Bayard; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Belen Muniz on November 12, 1999. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004 at 7 p.m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be conducted Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at 1 p.m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church with Father Alberto Avella officiating. Burial will take place at Grants Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers include Daniel Padilla, Fabian Padilla, Nicolo Muniz, Alvino Sandoval Jr., Mario Muniz, Jeremy Muniz, Michael Muniz and John Paul Gonzales.
