So much so that he cut his journey to settle in California. He became a sheep rancher. Moriarty was born in Ireland in Sept. 1841, died at the age of 91 in 1932 on his sheep ranch in Moriarty. He came to the US in 1854. His wife was Mary E. ?, b. in Canada April 1835 of Irish parents, and came to the US in 1859? They were married about 1876. 1860 and 1870 census: Michael Moriarty not found. 1880 census Jordan, Jasper County, Indiana - this could be him - Michael and Mary Moriarty b. In the 1900 census with Michael and Mary there is also an Elizabeth Moriarty b. Indiana May 1867, single, assumed to be the daughter. Michael’s occupation is sheep rancher. 1910 census: Michael T.
