This project is in need of financial assistance and apologies for the inconvenience in receiving this email. There is a website of the project at: www.nmia.com/~samquito/nmdi.html for your review and do hope to hear from anyone with any questions to be answered. If you wish to donate to the project, the average donation is between $5 to $10.00 and any amount is welcome. In your donation, you would be able to review the database already completed and will receive updates on the project (and on request, will sent the past updates of the project). In addition, your name will appear on the final website as a donor to the project. Instruction on how to donate to the NMDI project is post on the website. Thank you for your time in reading this email and best in all your research. From the return to El Paso del Norte after the reconquest (~1693), we will follow one branch of the family into Mesilla and on to Tularosa, New Mexico. After a foray into the Tejano - manito interactions, we will follow the steps backward in more typical genealogical mode. If anyone in the vicinity happens to be interested, let me know and I will add info on parking. By the way, it is a flex (professional development) seminar for faculty in the LA Community College District but others will be in attendance. Ray Mireles.

Michaels, Chinle, Fort Defiance, Lukachukai, Whiteriver, Holbrook, Cibecue and etc. in Arizona) here is some wonderful news from ron miera, president of HGRC as follows: "In the November Noticias I stated that we had completed the microfilming of the Gallup Diocese Sacramental Records. If you live in the Santa Fé and or the Northern area of New Mexico you can view these records at the New Mexico State Archivies. These records are also available for viewing at the Archivies of the Archdiocese of Santa Fé. The Santa Fé Archdiocese report that you phone for an appointment to view these microfilms or for any other research. In Albuquerque the microfilm is only available for viewing at the office of HGRC. To view these microfilms call me, Ronaldo Miera, at 505-836-5438 to set up an appointment. At the January Board of Directors meeting a motion was made and passed to start the extraction of the Gallup records. The motion stated that we start with the extraction of the marriage records first. When that is completed, we will then extract the baptism records. We will need volunteers to complete the extraction process in a timely fashion. All the work will take place at the HGRC office in Albuquerque. If you have experience with Microsoft Access we can really use your help. If you can volunteer on any of the projects, mentioned please call me, Ronaldo Miera, at the above phone number." good luck in your research. sam-quito ************************************************************************* A message from Sam-Quito Padilla G. at: samquito@nmia.com NM Death Index Project. 3. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: New Mexico Death Index Project Date: Fri, 20 Oct 2000 13:15:49 -0600 From: "Sam-Quito Padilla G." <samquito@nmia.com> To: hello edward, i am hoping that you would be so kind into forwarding this e-mail to the mailing lists which you host in New Mexico. it is about the New Mexico Death Index Project. the below e-mail will explain to you and others about the project. thank you for your help. --------------- Hello there everyone, My name is Sam-Quito, and i am heading a project of the New Mexico Death Index. And this project will be hosted by Rootsweb, the same organization which are hosting this mailing list. We are looking for volunteers and donations for this project. For further information, click on: http://www.nmia.com/~samquito/nmdi.html and the same info is printed below as in that website: New Mexico Death Index Project Many thanks for your interest about the New Mexico Death Index Project. The project is being sponsored by Rootsweb and headed by myself. Let me tell you more about the project. This project consist of the death index complied by the Health Department in State of New Mexico, counties whom issued death certificates between the years of 1899 to 1940. There are two books of death indices are available via the FHC (Family History Center) in Salt Lake City. This project will be typing up an assigned letter or letters in one or both books (via photocopies). When all the letters are completed, Rootsweb will be hosting the NM Death Index on-line for any New Mexican Researcher. Take a look at California’s Death Index on-line, hosted by Rootsweb at to see how the New Mexico Death index will look at: http://userdb.rootsweb.com/ca/death/search.cgi We are looking for people whom have MS Excel or MS Works programmes to volunteer and be assigned a letter in the alphabet and type the database. The books are in alphabet order by surname, not by county or date of death. The FHC only has two films of each film for rental. Because there are to many volunteers would be requiring doing this project and spread out over the country, there are not enough films to go around. Therefore, I will be making photocopies for the volunteers to type up. This brings us to another problem. We need donations for the photocopying fund. If anyone would like to donate to this fund, any amounts are most welcome. This project will benefit all researchers doing some kind of work in New Mexico. Send any donation to: Sam Padilla G. 1520 Univ. BL.NE#314 Albqu., NM 87102-1720 (and make the cheque or money order to: Sam Padilla G.) About the format of the death index database as follow: Surname/Givename/Middle/DateofDeath/CountyCode (That is all, simple). Therefore, we are looking for volunteers to help in typing the database for the New Mexico Death Index and for donations for the photocopying fund. For volunteering for the database typing, e-mail me with your mailing address. My e-mail address is: samquito@nmia.com I want to give a BIG THANK YOU the following people on the mailing list whom made a donation (*) or volunteering (#) on the new mexico death index project: Harold Kilmer (*), Robert England (*#), Charles Barnum (*), Tana Collis (*#), Patricia Black-Esterly (*), Annette W.
