Hello New Mexico Researchers, I want to re-introduce ourselves, my name is Sam-Quito Padilla G., and my co-manager is Gina Heffernan of the NMGenWeb's Archives Files Project. We have been very quiet this past year 2004 in promoting the NMGenWeb's Archives Files Project. But with the New Year, you will be receiving regular updates. The URL for NMGenWeb Archives Files Project is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nm/nmfiles.htm and check it out and maybe you might have some information to provide the Project. The NMGenWeb Archives Files Project was develop to host donated files from the general public in relations to New Mexico and/or its counties in reference to assist other in their quest of genealocial research. Here is some information on the Archives Files Project from the main USGenWeb site (http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/#about): About the USGenWeb Archives In June 1996, the USGenWeb Digital Library (USGenWeb Archives TM) was developed to present actual transcriptions of public domain records on the Internet. This huge undertaking is the cooperative effort of volunteers who either have electronically formatted files on census records, marriage bonds, wills, and other public documents, or are willing to transcribe this information to contribute. Once the decision was made to develop a project, originally called "TimeToDo" Something, a call went out to volunteers who would be willing to transcribe primary records as a service to the Internet genealogical community, find a way to get them posted on the Internet, and supporting the The USGenWeb Project county hosts by storing large files in a central location with a search engine. Space is donated by RootsWeb.Com for storage of the files. The table above is broken down by state. The left column represents the location of a Table of Contents for each state, with a brief description of each file and a direct link to it. The right column is the actual location of the archived files. The USGenWeb Archives Digital Library was implemented in July 1996, and files are being added everyday. If you have transcriptions to contribute, please contact the person listed on the state Table of Contents page. Please read the Guidelines for file contributions. The files need to be in ASCII text format, and will be converted by the state archive manager if in another form. To help our volunteers, please read how to prepare files for submitting. **** A Message from the Manager of the NMGenWeb Archives Files Project www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nm/nmfiles.htm ****** A message from the Project Manager of the NMGenWeb Archives Files Project vasosi3@yahoo.com

Update: The USGenWeb FGS Project now has over 14,000 family group sheets online. If you have ancestors in other states, you may want to check the project home page at : http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/ Some researchers have stated they have found new ancestors by using the FGS. Update: NM ALHN Project now has Five early birth records online. These are county public domain records. If you are interested in doing a county for NM ALHN, please contact me at charlesnreno @ aol.com for details; see http://www.rootsweb.com/~nma/statepage.htm You only need a word process or Notepad, Word, or Works to do this. Each county can be completed in a very short time. Full credit will be given to each county project coordinator by NM ALHN. Update: The Tombstone photo project is getting email from all over the world praising the great work done by all of the photo submitters. We now have about 1,500 photos online with over 4,000 in reserve. Photos from counties not yet online will be given priority for uploading. Charles B. spring is coming! get out the gardening tools!
