    1. [NMBERNAL] Volstorff Obituary Look-up

    3. I have more questions after posting the look-up request below. I discovered the death record for Lena C. Volstorff on the US GenWeb Archives submitted by the New Mexico NMDI Project Volunteers who compiled New Mexico Deaths 1899-1940. The Archives notes that this information can be used as a guide for ordering copies of the originals from the New Mexico State Health Department. However, when visiting the New Mexico Department of Health home page, it explicitly states that the State Board of Health wasn't created until 1919. So, were the records compiled by the New Mexico NMDI Project Volunteers prior to 1919 found at the Department of Health despite the fact that it wasn't yet in existence? Second, the New Mexico Department of Health home page states that New Mexico vital records are restricted access records and are only issued to immediate family members or individuals who demonstrate tangible legal interest. Does this preclude me from ordering a copy of a death certificate for a woman who died in 1902? It's all very confusing so I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who can enlighten me. I'm a new subscriber who is trying to obtain a copy or just the transcription of an obituary. I am researching the exceedingly uncommon surname Volstorff (among many others!), and I found the following on the NMGenWeb Archives New Mexico Deaths 1899-1940: Volstorff, Lena C., d. 02/16/02, Bernalillo Co., age(?) 256 All Volstorffs are descended from one family who originally immigrated to Kane Co., IL...and for the most part, stayed there. But I simply can't place where this woman falls in the family tree. Can SKS offer their services to look up this obit? Or, can someone advise where I can obtain a copy? I noticed that the NM Vital Statistics Bureau has birth and death records from 1919 on file (at least per the "resources" link on the USGenWeb Bernalillo Co. home page). What about a death from 1902?
