I just tried a site that I had not been on before and I think that some of you might well be interested in it as well. It is a site of the Societat Catalana de Genealogia, Heràldica, Sigil·lografia i Vexil·lologia (SCGHSV) Their e-mail address is scghsv@tinet.fut.es and the web address is http://www.fut.es/~scghsv. On reaching their web site you can link through a stylized "g" to Enello com (also reachable at www.elanillo.com)   where you will find listings of many sites covering names (appelidos). Everything is in Spanish although some of the headings are translated into English as well. once at the ENELLO COM site, try HERALDICO. They list about 5 different sites, try the next to last of these and you will be able to see full color pictures of many of the family arms of Spain. They also had a listing of sites having Spanish genealogical data including a fair number of ones covering Latin American areas. Another site which you might try is CIDE which is an annotated index of the Spanish Archives which you can screen by Surname, or by location, or several other ways. This one is also in Spanish but if you find entries that you want to translate you can copy them to your favorite translatation program and get the list of what the item is.
