Hefferle, died with dignity, Friday, March 6, 1998 in her home. Mary is survived by her younger brother, Tom Balok and his wife, Mary of Salt Lake City, UT; sisters-in-law, Pauline Balok of Los Lunas and Billie Balok of Gallup; nephews, Steve Balok and Glen Morehouse of Los Lunas, Jack Balok of Fence Lake, Alan and Clint Balok and Marlin Morehouse, all of Gallup, and Tom Balok of South Jordan, UT. Friends as dear as family, Virginia Rodgers and Monique Denzler of Albuquerque and Bertha Ashcroft of Los Lunas. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Balok; brothers and sisters, Anna Balok, Stephen Balok, John Balok Jr., Elizebeth Morehouse, Frank Balok, Pauline Stockton and Jack Balok, Sr. She was born in Page, NM on August 14, 1909 in the Zuni Mountains to immigrant parents, John and Anna Balok. Mary continued her education in the early thirties by enrolling in nursing school at Holy Cross Tuberculosis Sanitarium in Deming, NM. She received her nursing! degree, then moved to Gallup, NM to work in St. Mary's Hospital as a floor and later as a surgical nurse. Mary married Joseph Hefferle in early 1940. She then moved to Albuquerque where she spent her life dedicated to her husband and her magical gift of growing fruits and vegetables. Mary's memory will live in the hearts of those who loved her so dearly. Catholic Mass will be recited on Wednesday, March 11, 1998 in Gallup, NM. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Gallup, NM. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Tuesday, March 10, 1998 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
