Birth about 1765 Marriage: 1 May 1781 Alburquerque, Nuevo Mexico Children: Juan Andres ARCHULETA (30 Nov 1784 - ) Tomasa del Carmen ARCHULETA (Jul 1787 - ) Tomas ARCHULETA (4 Jun 1788 - ) All of these children were baptized at Santa Cruz. Their baptizmal records do not give grandparents. I wonder if there were more children that I have not discovered. I do not know where Ramon and Maria were born, but wonder if they may have been born in or around Alburquerque, or did they just get married in Alburquerque? I have examined the Alb. baptismal records and have found nothing concerning their birth. Were records kept at Bernalillo, Belen, Atrisco etc.? I would appreciate any information. - --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any replies should be sent to the Bernalillo County USGenWeb Query Forum [<http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NM/Bernalillo>] unless it is personal or involves live people addresses etc. when it should be sent to Marlin Aker Jr. <maker@flash.net>. --

    3. Hi everyone! I subscribed to this list a few days ago, but I haven't seen any postings yet. Hope that I'm doing this properly. :-) I'm doing research on my great grandfather, William Sherman, who lived in Albuquerque during the late 1800's. William married a woman by the name of Sofia Garcia around 1888, but I haven't been able to confirm this fact. When I wrote to the Bernalillo County Courthouse, they were unable to find any record of the marriage. Would anyone have suggestions on how to find out what Catholic church would have this marriage record? I've heard that the Archdiocese of Santa Fe has such records, but I have a feeling that they are not equipped to handle genealogical requests. What do you think? Also, are there any master indexes of deaths/births that occurred in New Mexico? I'm trying to confirm that William Sherman died on July 9, 1906, in Albuquerque, as well as trying to find out when Sofia Sherman died. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much! Janine Crandell in Illinois

    2. Clifford R. Williams
    3. To All Whom It May Concern: This message is to inform all genealogists, researchers, historians, teachers and students, about a very important web site that has a searchable database of over 1, 650 U.S. Regular Army soldiers who once served at the short-lived Buffalo Barracks between 1835 and 1846. Many of these soldiers fought in the Florida Indian Wars and then went on to fight in the Mexican the Civil War before migrating westward. The 1840 Census of Buffalo, NY lists Colonel James M. Bankhead and a total 'quantity' of 671 individuals, ranging in age from 1 to 60, under his command and/or his responsibility. Unfortunately, the census does not list each of these barracks residents by name....only by quantity. HOWEVER, The Buffalo Barracks Historical Web Site has made available, free of charge, the names of all officers and soldiers (and some of their wifes and dependants...see Barracks Notes) who lived at this federal military post located on the Niagara Frontier. The URL for this outstanding web site is: [ www.buffalonet.org/army ] There, you will discover the "Descriptive & Historical Register Data for Enlisted Soldiers in the U.S. Army," as well as a wealth of information pertaining to the Buffalo Barracks and it's unique historic value. I encourage everyone to take the time to visit this site. Perhaps you have an ancestor who once served there? Enjoy your visit, Cliff Williams 104740.372@compuserve.com buffalobarracks@hotbot.com
