Hi Listmates, I recently found my great great grandfather's death record in the San Felipe de Neri Church records. He died in Albuquerque in the year 1900 and it said he was buried at Ladera Del Carmen. I have never heard of this cemetary. All my other relatives who died in late 1800-1910 or so, were all buried at Santa Barbara or San Ignacio. Btw, where is San Ignacio? I have been told that Santa Barbara is the older section of Mt. Calvary Cemetary. Is this correct? Do San Ignacio and Ladera Del Carmen still exist? I asked someone to look up some of my grandparents and great grandparents on the Mt Calvary/Santa Barbara list and they told me none of my names were on the list. Yet I have found in the records of San Felipe Church that they were buried there. Have the tombstones just worn away or disappeared over the many years and thats why their names aren't on the list? Is there any way to find their graves?? If anyone has an answer for me I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks Cynthia Lucero Thompson Torrance, California

I have a 1947 SS-5 for a family member. He gives his address as either: 25 Joleta Hwy Albuquerque, NM or 725 Joleta Hwy Albuquerque, NM I've been mapping all night and not really coming up with anything. Depending which address I use, I come up VERY DIFFERENT maps. I'm not even sure Joleta actually exists anymore because when I do a reverse look-up, leaving out the house number, I get nothing. Does anyone know anything about either vicinity in 1947? Is old Joleta Hwy now Hwy 60? Would either of these addresses have been on or near one of the reservations? I know I'm asking a lot - but perhaps someone has been waiting for someone to ask these questions. You never know. Thank you for any hints or clues. Karla Bakersfield, CA

I have an ancestor who was enroute to Colorado from Nebraska, when he died. He left December 1908 for Texas and spent a brief period of time in San Antonio. He never reached his destination in Colorado. He died in Albuquerque, New Mexico in April 1909. My question is, if he had a will would he have carried it with him, as he was moving from Nebraska to Colorado? Does anyone know about wills during this time? Joyce Rowley
You can send for his death certificate which will tell you the cause of death and the place of burial. You may have to do this in the name of one of your children or his mother, because some states release death certificates only to blood relatives. You can write to either the county itself or to the state of New Mexico. New Mexico Health and Environment Dept. Health Services Division Vital Statistics Office P..O. Box 968 Sante Fe, New Mexico 87504-0968 The fee for this is probably $10.00 but it may have gone up, you can call and ask, the phone # is below. If your request is urgent you may call (505) 827-0598 and charge your certificate to your visa or mastercard. There is a $6.00 additional fee for this service.
