It seems as if I mentioned this only a few months ago but let me again recommend the services of Geoff Cooper who searches New Jersey records in Trenton. You can check out his costs, etc., at his web site: www.njresearch.com or contact him via email at [email protected] I have used his services on many occasions and find him to be worth it. While he charges more than the state does (around $15. per search) he is a much more thorough and creative searcher than many of the people in the Vital Records Dept in Trenton. And definitely quicker - he'll have a document to you within a week while the last one I got from the state took 6 months. He did a number of searches for my Smith ancestors where I had very little information and found them! These are completely independent opinions and I'm not getting any kickback from Geoff for saying these things.
