Regarding how to find when your uncles began working at Bethlehem Steel, here is one possible way of narrowing down a date: Without looking it up, (and, people, don't send me corrections - I know where to look it up, I just don't have time right now) I think Social Security began circa 1936. Anyone who was already working at a company like Bethlehem Steel would have signed up then - or, if not then, when they did begin working for them. This, of course, does not take into account the possibility that your uncles worked for another SS-covered company before going to Bethlehem Steel. You can go to SS web site via Rootsweb or ancestry.com, feed in the name and it will process a letter that you can then use to send away for his application. It used to cost $7.00 and I think I heard that the price went up steeply this summer. (I just ignored that and sent $7.00 and got what I asked for.)
