Are there any ancestors of James P. Snell, who penned "History of Sussex & Warren Counties, New Jersey", 1881 on this list? James P. Snell states, on page 534, of the above mentioned book: "Frederick Searles, from whose storehouse of written memoranda pertaining to the early history of Belvidere we have been permitted to make oft-repeated drafts, ........" Frederick Searles (1804-1894) is my gggrandfather. I have been trying to track down the above mentioned writings and have had no luck. Perhaps some of the "drafts" made by James Snell still exist. I am interested in obtaining copies. Or, perhaps someone on this list has an idea of where look. I have checked with my relatives in Belvidere, who live in the house Frederick Searles' built, but they have found no "writings". The Warren County Genealogical & Historical Society doesn't have them. Any ideas? Thank you, Lyn Magill-Hoch
