From Grandin: LANCE Harber/Harbert, Dec. 10, 1782; December 1783 John, Apr. 23, 1778; Oct 28, 1778 Peter, Jan. 9, 1776 to Feb. 17, 1784 (6) William, Oct. 7, 1778 to Jan 31, 1783 (3) The Grandin mill was near present-day Hamden, south of Clinton, in Hunterdon. That's pretty near German Valley, but I don't get the geography of "water gap in German Valley" - do you mean the Delaware Water Gap? If so, that would be nearer to some of the other locations you mention but further away from German Valley (if the one you refer to is the one near Califon, etc., in NJ). Is it? i.e., 13 mi. between Hamden and Califon; 36 between Blairstown and Hamden; 8 mi between Blairstown and Columbia (NJ, near the Water Gap) Hope I've made it clear for you; otherwise you might want to check these distances out on mapquest.com. I have a few Lances in my database. Do you want them? I have one Lance who married a Souders in Kane Co., IL, but both families came from PA. I have another Lance who married a Van Ness, another of the names I research. ----- Original Message ----- From: Breakness@aol.com To: msouders@nyc.rr.com Sent: Monday, August 28, 2006 10:51 AM Subject: Re: [NJWARREN] RE: Grandin & Janeway account books Marilyn You are ahead of me on the path issue. My downstairs office is piled so deep in papers that if I died someone would think I was nuts! I'm at a disadvantage here as I don't know New Jersey geography well enough to have a good guess if my LANTZ -LANCE ancestors would be in the area. They were near the Water Gap in German Valley, Blairstown, Hainsburg, Walnut Valley area. If that is in your area would you mind seeing if there are names in your book/ If the area is wrong it would be my guess that there wouldn't be any of my people there. Thanks much Laurence Lance Seattle dang it's getting harder and harder to see this screen!
