I am interested in this discussion because Adam Snyder and Ann Freas are my ancestors. Their children were born in Knowlton and came up to Canada with them. Their son John married Christina Dils daughter of Adam Dils and Christina Belles. My information is mostly second hand. Could anyone recommend a good researcher who specializes in the Warren area. Regards, Virginia
Virginia, Re. my previous email on Catherina BELLESFELT and John FREAS, Christina BELLES was Catherine's sister per their father's will. I don't know who Adam DILS/DILLS/DILTS's parents were but he's most likely related to the family that was in Hunterdon Co near Amwell. DILS also attended that same church back in Selters, Germany, and I believe there were SCHNEIDERs there as well. Jacobus Pitter SNIDER and Philip SNIDER were among the founders of the Amwell German Reformed Church at Larison's Corner in Hunterdon Co NJ which might be a strong clue that they were the SCHNEIDERs who attended the church back in Selters. Wonder if the Amwell SNIDERs are related to your Adam SNYDER... There's another SNYDER/BELLIS connection and I suspect Lizzie belongs to the SNYDER family associated with the Amwell church. Andrew BELLIS descends from immigrant Adam BELLESFELT of Hunterdon Co, brother of immigrant Peter who lived in Knowlton: Name: Lizzie SNYDER Name: Mary Elizabeth SNYDER Birth: 1856 Death: 1930 Marriage: Andrew R. BELLIS b: 1855 * Married: 07 OCT 1876 Children 1. Amy Hester BELLIS b: BETWEEN 1877 AND 1897 2. John Roscoe BELLIS b: BETWEEN 1877 AND 1897 3. Alton Fenton BELLIS b: BETWEEN 1877 AND 1897 4. Chester Arthur BELLIS b: 1885 I take it you don't have any info further back on your Adam SNYDER, but if you do I'd be interested in knowing who his parents and grandparents were. Did your DILS stay in Canada or return to the US after the Revolutionary War? Take care, Roz BELLIS Alexandria VA -----Original Message----- From: virginia miller [mailto:vjmill@telus.net] Sent: Wednesday, August 09, 2006 4:17 PM To: NJWARREN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [NJWARREN] Freas, Bellis I am interested in this discussion because Adam Snyder and Ann Freas are my ancestors. Dilts/Dils married Lefler, some of whom where from Knowlton and some from Oxford and Harmony. Fris/Freis also had married Lefler and had been witness at family baptisms starting in Pa then in NJ (1700s). Looking for more on this group.
