Someone on this list recently made reference to a Cowell family they were researching in Warren County. I have some off family references to a George Cowell Sr, George Jr and his wife Diana, and their son Daniel and his wife Harriet Rodenbaugh, do any of these names sound familiar? I'd like to find out more about them if you have any info. Thanks in advance! Rafer

Is this the same Paul KUHL who was naturalized as "Paul Kole" 8 Jul 1730? He married Eva Maria KAES and is buried in the Kuhl Burial Ground, Copper Hill, Amwell Township, Hunterdon Co. If so, I have from another researcher that (Johann) Paul KUHL was born on 24 Mar 1700 in Maxsain, Neuweid-Westerwald, Germany and confirmed in Maxsain in 1717. Is Selters in the Maxain area? Jan, Thanks so much for all of the info you sent. In looking at everything briefly I believe my James Fries b. c. 1775 is the Jacobus Fries son of Martinus Fries and Janroe who was born on 4 May, 1775. I am zeroing in on him as in the 1850 census in Pa he was 75 yrs old. What do you think? I do believe that his wife was Margaretha Scarlotto (sp) born 28 Feb 1783. On her tomb stone at the date of her death in Sept 1853 her age was listed as 70y, 6m, 16d. That is pretty darn close. Are we still related????? By the way, there's a possibility that Ester Maria's maiden name is FAUS. One of the transcribed records from the Knowlton First German and English congregation reads: [CHRISTENED] JANUARY 8, 1760. The Wilhelm born 18 Dec 1765 coincides with the birthdate of William and Ester Maria's son named Wilhelm/William. I sure would like to see the original records, though. Cecilia was the sister of my 3rd great grandfather, Michael Raub, who was married to Anna Kuhl. Very small church...they married into each other's families until you find yourself related to yourself! Peter (http://www.raub-and-more.com/jhr/14381.htm) did have a brother named William, so it's very possible that he, as the uncle, was a witness. Unfortunately, you can't be certain, of course, but if they were brothers, then Williams parents were John Frees and Catharina. Hope this helps. Ann, This is usually written as one word, Shippingport. From Wikipedia: "Shippingport is a borough in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, along the Ohio River. The population was 237 at the 2000 census. Shippingport is famous for being the site of the United States's first commercial nuclear power plant..." I lived in Beaver County in the 1960s, the name sounded familiar. --Noelle Ohio At 05:03 PM 8/8/2006, bruce yetter wrote: >Ann, >There is a Succasunna in Morris County New Jersey which may or may >not have been part of Sussex County NJ. > >Bruce Starner Yetter >Hackettstown, NJ >----- Original Message ----- From: "Ann Brown" <cookiebrown11@gmail.com> >To: <NJWARREN-L@rootsweb.com> >Sent: Tuesday, August 08, 2006 3:51 PM >Subject: [NJWARREN] Where is "Shipping Port" > > >>I have a marriage announcement for one of my family members that was in the >>3 April 1852 Sussex county Register >> >>At Harvey Orchard, Succasunna, Pa, on 21 ult., by Rev. Good Afternoon. I have about 40 photos from my grandfather from his service with the Hackettstown Civilian Conservation Corps. There are professional ones that are of the group(s), various buildings, grounds, etc. and then there are random shots that my grandfather took when he was there of the men working on the fish hatchery. I don't know if any organizations are interested in the photos but it looks like a pretty complete set of them. If you know of an organization who would be interested in them, or if you know of anyone who served in it, I'd love to have the info. You can email me off list at kim_eckhardt@yahoo.com.
