Looking for info on my wife's Grandfather Harry Vusler. Don't know much of anything on him except he was my wife's Mothers Father. My wife's mother was Jennie Morris nee Vusler born Sept 1906. Any and all help appriciated. Paul in Penna.
Hello all, My previous query yielded many answers to my question about my g grandfather admitted to Bonnie Burn Sanitorium. I just received an email from the person who handles the medical records of patients. She said that the records were not in existence, being that old (from the early 1950s). But, she said she found my g grandfather in the registrar's records. I now have a tentative date of his birth, and the names of his parents, both of which I did not know before! Imagine my excitement! Now, for the next question.....my g grandfather, Bela KONYU (or KONNYU), lived with one of his sons and his family in their house in Phillispburg. Since Bela died in the sanitorium, which, I think, is located in Union County, should I request his death certificate from Union County, or should I request it from Warren County, where he lived in Phillipsburg? Thanks in advance for any information, Denise S. (in Oklahoma City, OK)

Sandy, Your concerns are appreciated. I only hope that everyone doing research has asked themselves the important question, "Before I go looking, am I prepared for what I may find?" I think I might have been happy to discover some of my relatives where in either a sanitOrium/sanitarium! Compared to other possibilities either might not be bad. Good work and enjoy. Rick Lane -----Original Message----- From: Sandy Read [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, August 03, 2001 11:29 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [NJWARREN] SanitArium vs. SanitOrium I should have checked the dictionary before asking Denise if someone was mangling the English language by confusing sanitArium with sanitOrium, because I now find that Webster defines them both as being from the Latin word sanatorius, to mean giving health. It does not differentiate between between physical or mental, as sanitOrium is also defined as sanitArium. Before we upset anyone whose ancester was in a sanitArium for their physical health, are the words interchangeable? Was this just something I picked up from my mid-western upbringing and there really is no difference?? Just wanted to help clear the mystery behind my request. I was just informed of my mangling two words which sound and spell very similar. SanitArium is a facility used for those who are mentally ill, while sanitOrium is/used for those who are physically ill. I also found out that Bonnie Burn Sanitorium was built in 1912, for Tuberculosis patients. denise
My many thanks to those who have shared stories and memories of their own ancestors admitted to sanitariums. Also, my heartfelt apologies for thinking sanitariums were used for mentally ill people. That was just the way of thought of them. Thanks to those who set me straight on the use of them. Denise

Hello all, Recently I found the obituary to my g grandfather. He died of TB in 1951. In his obituary, it states he was in treatment at the Bonnie Burn Sanitarium. Does anyone know if this place is still in existence, and if I can contact them concerning any records they may have? Also, why would he be there, in a sanitarium? Wouldn't that place just hold mentally ill patients? Thanks in advance for any information! Denise
Hello Lori, I read your email on the Fairmount Cem. I believe my gparents, Minnie b1878( parents, William and Adaline Crotsley) and George Lesher b 1869 ( parents, Elizabeth Mack and William H Lesher) are buried there. Will you do a look-up on them and any possible relatives? I have the 1880 census if you need any look-ups from that just let me know. I also have Warren County NJ marriages 1824-1855 by Sharon Meeker.
