    1. [NJWARREN] Municipal Birth Days
    2. Catherine Di Pietro
    3. Which towns in Warren county came from Sussex county? The quick answer is - ALL of them. Warren county was created entirely from Sussex in 1824. If you are looking for any pre-1824 Warren county records - you need to look in Sussex county in the Hall of Records in Newton. This repository has pre-1824 land deeds, probates wills, etc for all Warren county locales. Before 1753, Sussex and Warren were part of Morris county and before that Hunterdon county. The earlier 1700's land records were filed in Burlington Co. as part of the records of West Jersey although most of these are referenced in the Sussex county deed records. The earliest Sussex county deeds for Greenwich, Oxford, Knowlton, etc. usually trace land back to the proprietor's purchase or quit claim. This is a posting to NJSussex-L from 14 Mar 2000 which should help you when researching Warren County. ------------------------ Tue, 14 Mar 2000 08:25:36 EST From: <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Subject: [NJSUSSEX-L] SUSSEX COUNTY Municipality Birth Days Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Follow Listers I thought the following Municipal Birth Days would be useful in your research. My gggrandfather served in the WAr of 1812, and on the census is listed as being from PA. 3. Good evening Warrenites, My name is Dick WOOD and I am searching for information/ancestors/siblings of my gg grandfather, John R GASTON, b. 1824 in (I think)Northampron Co., PA, on the other side of the river. Early GASTONs, 1750-1800, were part of the Scotch Irish settlement known as the Hunter Settlement. I appreciate any help and would enjoy discussing the early GASTONs of NJ and PA. Cheers and thanks in advance. 3. Is there someone or some organization that has a record of tombstone inscriptions on file for Warren County? I am seeking a John DOUGHERTY (or any reasonable variation of Dougherty). I do not have any idea when he died, but he did serve in the American Revolution. I am making a wild guess that he possibly died late 1700's or early 1800's. 1. [NJWARREN] Update
    2. USGW Project NJSC
    3. Hello New Jersey Researchers, I have started the update to the New Jersey USGenWeb web site. You can find the site at: <http://www.virtualnewarknj.com/gennj/subindex.htm> or <http://www.rootsweb.com/~njgenweb/subindex.htm> I've decided to have a main site and a mirror site. The sites will be identical but in case one server is down you can always check the other. At the site you will find a reorganization of the old information along with some new information. I'd like your input to add more information to the site. We will do that one section at a time, so please review the following section and email me with any additions you have: <http://www.rootsweb.com/~njgenweb/research/vitals/index.htm> Please remember this is the state site and all information should be about the entire state not just a single county (i.e. where you would find birth records for the entire state). The New Jersey Historical Society is about to open their new web site. I don't know what will be there or if they followed our suggestions but we will find out this month. The address for the site is: <http://www.jerseyhistory.org/> Thank You, Glenn G. Geisheimer <[email protected]> NJ State Coordinator USGenWeb Project <http://www.virtualnewarknj.com/gennj/> <http://www.rootsweb.com/~njgenweb/index.html>

    2. Jan Reuther
    3. Hi, folks.... I've added Baptisms from the Lower Harmony Methodist Church, Harmony, Warren County, 1869 - 1900, to my web site. You can see it at http://www.raub-and-more.com/harmonymeth/harmonymethbaps.html The listing I have continues to 1934, but in the interest of preserving the privacy of those who may still be living, I stopped my transcription with 1900, with the exception of 5 adults who were Baptized in that year. If you think your ancestor might have been Baptized in this church between 1900 and 1934, please don't hesitate to contact me. Jan Reuther http://RAUB-and-more.com

    2. Diane McGee
    3. Hi, I am new to the list and would like to let everyone know what I am looking for. I am trying to find the parents of Jacob Young, born Oct. 30, 1814, Sussex County NJ (now Warren County). He married Amy (Anna) Leigh, March 22, 1845, in Warren County. They relocated to Illinois and are found in the 1850 census in Stark County. It is known that they had one son Daniel while in Warren County and possibly another son John. It is not known if John was born in NJ or IL. Other children born to Jacob and Anna were Sarah Adaline; Mary N.; Elmira; Joseph Wilber and Emma C. Anna died in 1865 and Jacob married Mary Jane Kerkhuff and they had children Clinton Augustus; Martha B.; Luella and Etta D. I am particularly interested in Jacob's parents but would also like any information on his descendants. Thanks. Diane
