Have you considered checking a newspaper for the area for the obituary? I have had good luck with this method. Usually gives names of parents and survivors. Official state death certificates can sometimes be a help. Lots of newspapers are on microfilm...so you might check at local area libraries or historical societies to see who has microfilm.
