It is not only Union Co. but the state office too! I just received the following form letter back from the State of New Jersey Dept. of Health and Senior Services. qte Effictive Immediately Birth, Marriage and Death Records Search Unit: There will no longer be year before and year after serches. The search unit staff will search the requested year and the year requested only in response to a customer request. Customer Service Unit: The Bureau of Vital Statisitics will no longer accept a request to search or certify a birht, marriage or death record within our files unless the person who is making the request is able to provide the following information: a) the exact nam e that is currently recorded on the birth, marriage, or death record (first middle last) b) the exact place of birth, marriage or death(city) c) the exact date of birth, marriage or death (month day year) d) the mother's maiden name e) the Father's name(when recorded) There is no exception to this rule unqte I find this form letter totally unacceptable!!!! I did find a expensive way around this by using a paid researcher to do the search for me. He was very quick and effecient. Too bad we couldnt have the state pay him and lay off those who do not want to do the work? What's the deal with the V.S. Office in Union County. Now they want the exact date of birth, marriage, death (M/D/Y) and they WILL NOT do any searching. That's why we pay extra...to have the search done. I have never had such problems with any other V.S. office before. > > First - I got the info from their website regarding ordering certificates and it said nothing about using their own form. So, they sent it back. All 21 requests. > > Fine...so I filled in the forms and sent them back including the fee amounts with searches. > > Now, they are sending them back again with "effective immediately" notices. I must supply exact dates. Can someone explain to me why??? I am feeling really frustrated over this. All of my family is from Elizabeth, NJ. They really know how to tie things up. Many states are now taking the info over the phone. I think they're stuck in the 20th century along with my requested certificates. > > How can I find out the exact date of marriage in order to request a copy of a marriage certificate? I was only requesting a 3-year search. > > Please help. > > Margaret > mb329@msn.comGet more from the Web.
