My great-grandfather William McSweeney came from County Cork, Ireland to fight in the civil war. He and several other Irish men were paid to fight for the north. He stayed her for a year and then returned to Ireland. I am told that a picture of his company with him in it hung in the county courthouse in Elizabeth. Does anyone know of a civil war company from Union County. I would appreciate any information.
