    1. [NJUNION] Cemeteries
    2. Hi, My experience with cemeteries is that they do not keep records of whether or not stones have been placed. I went to the cemetery in Brooklyn with my mother the year after my grandmother died. I remembered the part of the cemetery the plot was in and that there were markers. My mother pointed out "This is Aunt so and so" etc. Imagine my surprise when I went to the cemetery last fall with my sons and there were no markers. The staff in the office had sent me a list of who was buried there, the date and their age. I went into the office and spoke to them about the markers. Their explanation was that if they were markers (slabs on the ground) they sink over time. They said that they would have the groundcrew use poles this spring and see if they can locate them. If so they will dig them up and restore them. Hope this helps, Rita
