Hello Helaine, I am in Florida, so I am useless there. However, why don't you go through your library to a library in Plainfield, not the newspaper. Interlibrary Loan covers obits in my area as well as old newspaper articles. I would contact the library there in Plainfield first to see what they have, but many libraries have such information. Just an idea. There is a great online site for the city of Plainfield, but I can not find my bookmark for it. Maybe someone on the list will have the link. It might have library info. Through this ILL I got 10 obituaries from the early 1900's of my family......Free!!. My library got them from the library in the other city. Good luck to you.
