Hoping someone can orient me regarding Morris Ave. in Summit, 1905. The state cenus of that year shows my great-grandfather, William T. McMane, living at 117 Morris Ave. and Jonathan Bonell living at 282 Morris Ave. I'm puzzled by this, since I'm pretty sure Jonathan Bonnell was the son of Johnathan C. Bonnel, the "founder" of Summit and a man of very substantial means, as was his son. My great great-grandfather was a carpenter. Also, I thought Morris Ave. was in East Summit, and my impression (perhaps wrong?) was that it was not the most elegant part of town. Does not "compute." Can anyone help?
