I'm new to cyberspace, and a few days ago I noticed this 1998 query at <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/NJ/Essex?>: RE family bible of OBADIAH WOODRUFF, born 1768 at Elizabeth, NJ, posted by Bonnie (in SW Virginia) at [email protected] [still correct]. Bonnie writes: <<Recently, I had access to the above-referenced original family bible memorializing the Obadiah Woodruff family....I would be happy to share this information.>>. I haven't yet seen Bonnie's info, but Obadiah (b. 1768) appears to be a brother of my ancestor Zurviah Woodruff (b. 1766), both children of Seth Woodruff (1742-1814) of Elizabeth, NJ. Bonnie apparently has no NJ ancestors and, to help her make some sense of the family data inscribed in this bible, I printed out the following list, which I duplicate here in abridged form. Because this list deals mostly with the 18th century, I decided it might have some general interest to Union Co., NJ, researchers. I would very much welcome additions & corrections. Most of the stuff below is from some pages I copied from Ceylon N. Woodruff's WOODRUFF CHRONICLES, vol. 2 (1971), starting on page 11. "AFN" refers to Ancestral File Numbers, and typing in these AFNs only (omitting names) speeds up access to LDS Church AF records at <http://www.familysearch.org/Search/searchaf.asp>. John Q.
