I haven't yet seen Bonnie's info, but Obadiah (b. 1768) appears to be a brother of my ancestor Zurviah Woodruff (b. 1766), both children of Seth Woodruff (1742-1814) of Elizabeth, NJ. Bonnie apparently has no NJ ancestors and, to help her make some sense of the family data inscribed in this bible, I printed out the following list, which I duplicate here in abridged form. Ezekiel & Zurviah had nine children. Ezekiel was a Patriot soldier in the Revolutionary War + War of 1812. The north wing of the extant house at 910 Magie Ave., Elizabeth, NJ, was probably built for Ezekiel ca. 1790, enlarged in the 1820s in Federal style, owned by descendants until 1906, and (sadly) much transmogrified in the 1930s. Obadiah died 07 27 1847, Newark, NJ. His brother-in-law William Henry Earl (1786-57) m. Mary S. Magie, a daughter of Zurviah & Ezekiel above. Obadiah & Elizabeth had nine children, says Ceylon Woodruff. Obadiah was the builder of Newark's First Presbyterian Church (finished 1791, extant?) at 830 Broad St. The extant? home built by and for Obadiah in 1792 at 159 Washington St., Newark, was occupied by his family for 117 years. ========================================================
