I am just beginning to search in this area and had a few questions that I would truly appreciate some help with. Was there a Union County in 1870? What county was Elizabeth, New Jersey in the 1800s? I am at a brick wall with a Sarah Williams (who married Leonard Chester) I cannot locate her mother's name and her siblings. If anyone is working on the surname Chester I would love to hear from you.
