    2. Dave is correct -- almost all of the 1890 Federal Census for NJ was destroyed in the fire that consumed most of this census nationwide. The only existing schedules of the general population are from Jersey City. However, the Veterans' schedules for NJ from the 1890 Federal Census are extant, so you can find Civil War vets there. The NJ State Censuses are great resources, but none of them are indexed, to my knowledge. The earlier years are skimpy on personal information but do list every member of the household.
