    3. I have had no luck in finding the parents of Joanna Elizabeth Briggs, b. 1830, unknown, and died June 15, 1889 in Plainfield, NJ. >From the SDB records; " On Saturday, June 15, at the residence of her son, Plainfield, NJ, Joanna E. Cardner died, wife of Dr. Iretus Greene Cardner, NY, and foster-daughter of the late Thomas B. and Susannah Stillman of NY and Plainfield." She was buried in the Seventh Day Baptist Cemetery and later moved to Hillside Cemetery in Plainfield, NJ on July 20, 1903. >From the NY City Directory, 1890: Cardner, J. E. drugs, 584 Grand, h. 221 E. 58th. Dr. Iretus G. Cardner two addresses, 221 E. 58th, 69 W. 105th St. NY. I can not figure out the way the J. E. Cardner is listed as to drugs with a separate address given. Could she have had a drugstore?? Does anyone have ideas on this? I believe Joanna was related to the Stillmans in some way. I believe her Briggs line was SDB, and the Stillmans were also. I find myself wondering if she had brothers and sisters. Also when did her parents die, and why the Stillmans as foster parents. The Stillmans had no children of their own. The SDB Historical Society has an autograph book that belonged to Joanna when she attended Deruyter Academy in 1849. Also there were some tintypes in hinged frames, probably her family. We can not get to Wisconsin to get copies of these, but I may have to hire someone eventually. The pictures could have been the Stillmans or the Briggs. How would we ever know now? Joanna Elizabeth Briggs Cardner is a puzzle. Hoping some other Briggs born about that time might have some clues.
