    3. Judy -- here are a few notes: 1. Jonathan Hampton b. circa 1693, m. (1) -------- *Hampton, m. (2) 20 Feb 1740/41, Elizabeth *Bird. Jonathan died 12 Mar 1745, Rahway, NJ. Woodruff Chronicles 1:139. The Hampton Family was of Staten Island, NY and then of Rahway. NJ. His will was dated 5 March 1744/45 and proved 19 April 1745. The name of his first wife, who was the mother of his children, has not been recovered. See also NYGBR 37:21. Elizabeth: Widow of Joseph Bird, who died 28 Sep 1740; NYGBR 36:311; Woodruff Chronicles 1:139. Children by -------- *Hampton: 2. i Abraham Hampton. Woodruff Chronicles 1:139. Named as eldest son in his father's will. 3. ii Jonathan Hampton. + 4. iii Margaret Hampton. 5. iv Mary Hampton. Called Mary Olliver in will of her father. John Stites, b. 1706, Hempstead, L.I., NY, (son of William Stites and Mary Hall) d. 21 Apr 1782, Springfield, N.J., buried: Springfield Presbyterian Church. Woodruff Chronicles 1:132. John: The Hon. John Stites, ancestor of many honored citizens of New Jersey, was born at Hempstead, Long Island, in 1706, and died at Springfield, New Jersey, April 21, 1782. He was a Chosen Freeholder and Justice of Etown, and a Deputy in the Provincial Congress of New Jersey in 1775.
