    3. I am looking for information on Edward BALDWIN, born abt 1840 location unk, died 19 Apr 1914 in Elizabeth, NJ. Baldwin probably lived in NYC in Dec 1861 when he enlisted in the 13th NY Independent Battery, Light Artillery as a private. By the time the unit was decommissioned in July 1865, he had risen to the rank of Lieutenant. Sometime after the war he moved to Elizabeth and in 1896 was living at 720 Pearl St. Baldwin served as the secretary for the 13th Independent Battery's Veterans Association. There is some evidence that upon his death he left behind memoirs and letters relating to his war experiences. I am trying to determine what local repositories, historical societies, etc might have received the Baldwin papers. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Also, if anyone has this Baldwin in their family history, I have information to share with you. Thanks in advance, John Clavin jc@austin.rr.com
