    1. [NJUnion] Dunn-Hayden and Dunn-Bedell marriages
    2. Can anyone suggest possible sources (preferably on-line) for marriage records for Elizabeth Dunn (m. Bedell) and Esther Dunn (m. Hayden) which probably took place in the Plainfield-Piscataway area about 1795-1800? A third marriage in this family is recorded at the Westfield Presbyterian Church, but not the first two. 3. Computing skills not too good in the AM - Apologies to UNION list earlier..... ================ Several generations of my family are in Rosedale also. They do have a card index and I have found info on most of the folks I looked for. So, I assume you could call, write, fax, etc. and request the information. Ward's are also related to my family somehow. Moses Harrison m. Sarah Ward ca. 1832 in Newark Then, there were Ward's in the area of Jermyn, PA that were related as well. Haven't really researched that group yet, but do know there is a Ward connection. I'm researching directly these Rosedale families: VERDERAMO, FILANDINO, WENDELL, LEMBERT/LAMBERT, KITCHELL. Colatterals also in Rosedale that are connected my family include: ARALLE, RIKER, CRAIG, CODA, LANDSBERG, DURLAND and probably many others I just don't know about yet. It can be difficult to see from Lambert's Mill Road, even if you know what you're looking for. I visited there a few years ago. There are five graves, as follows: 1. Morris Decamp 1750 - 1821 2. Freelove Dunham April 4, 1784 3. John DeCamp Oct 20 1782 4. Nov 1. 1793 , "In memory of Sarah Widow of John DeCamp She died Nov the 1st, 1793 in the 67th year of her age" 5. Dr. Gideon DeCamp Dec 18, 1815 While I was there, I talked briefly with a neighbor, who said I was the first DeCamp he had ever met! He told me that, shortly after they moved there, they were awakened one morning by gunfire, and found that the SAR seems to conduct an annual ceremony (Memorial Day?) when men in Revolutionary uniforms fire a rifle salute, presumably to Morris DeCamp, who was a Revolutionary soldier in Colonel Sheldon's Light Dragoons. He also told me of having met an elderly man who recalled playing in the area years ago, before homes were constructed (probably 1950 or earlier). At that time, he recalled, there were a large number of graves there. I assume that they were probably destroyed when the land was graded for home construction. The cemetery is in good condition, and the stones are still legible. It's not too far from a colonial home on Raritan Road that is identified as the "John DeCamp House". I understand that it may be one of the sites on an occasional local tour of pre-Revolutionary homes. There's an Internet page where John Dux reports on a 1997 visit to NJ, that included this cemetery. The url is: http://www.geocities.com/heartland/woods/5514/nj_trip.html The destruction of the cemetery may tie in with a news story that Harman Clark sent me several years ago. As I recall, it was about a family living in Clark, NJ, that found an intact DeCamp gravestone when they were doing some landscaping. I believe that the article said that they intended to give the stone to the local historical society. I'm not sure when the story was published, possibly early 1980s. Wilson DeCamp Vienna, VA

    2. Dave- There's a Dunham Avenue back there, too! The nearest large cemetery from the 1800s is Fairview in Westfield. There are books cataloging many of the old stones in Fairview at the Westfield Library. The next nearest old large cemetery, and the nearest opened before the 1860s or so, would be the Colonial Cemetery (a/k/a Revolutionary Cemetery) in Westfield. That cemetery has stones, all in the same row, for Moses Dunham, son of Joseph, d. Apr. 25, 1862 aged 75 years; his wife Sarah Baker Dunham, d. Oct. 7, 1852 aged 65 years; Enoch Dunham, d. There are a few other Dunhams scattered around the cemetery. There are a couple of small cemeteries quite close to the old Dunham property. One is the Miller-Roll Cemetery, in Westfield near the Springfield border. There are no Dunham stones there. The other is the French-Richards Cemetery, in Springfield behind a Rt. 22 industrial park. I don't have the listing of that cemetery handy. There is also a DeCamp-Dunham Cemetery, but it's way over on the south side of Scotch Plains, on the Westfield border, near Tamaques Park and the Westfield conservation center.
