List, I've been trying to figure out how the Walkers are related to my greatgrandfather James Dunn (1867-1947) who immigrated to Philadelphia in 1907 and later moved to Rahway, NJ. Both families were from Fraserburgh, Scotland. I looked at all the Walkers from Fraserburgh who went through Ellis Island. There were two "groups," George 1 & 2 being the same person. (see below) I'm not sure how/if James L Walker is related to George Walker. My great-aunt had photos of Margaret Walker, Mary Ellen Walker, and Walker Boy. I don't know how these people are related, their parents, etc. http://members.aol.com/rlcww/photo1.htm 1. George Walker (arr 1910), 29 E Stearne St, Rahway, NJ - son of Geo. Walker, 36 School St, Fraserburgh - Uncle James Dunn of Philadelphia (1907) then Rahway (1911-ish) - brother-in-law Andrew Noble b. 1888, son of James of Fraserburgh 2. Can someone do a lookup for me on a marriage between Abraham Clark and a SUSANNAH. This most probably would have been in Westfield. The marriage would have been between 1775 and 1785. The following is a birth record for Abraham: Westfield Presbyterian Church - New Jersey Clark, Abraham, c. Mr. & Mrs. Abraham September 20 1761.
Looking for information on Anna BROWN, born ca. 1853 in NJ, married ca. 1871 James B. (or John B. on one record) JAQUES. One daughter, Harriet, born December 24 1871 or 1872. James died when Harriet was quite small. I have an obituary for Newark for a James JAQUES, dead of consumption, 1874, burial in Rahway. A JAQUES family history records a James B. of the right age and death date, but only says he died married. I can't find any record of marriage for James and Anna/Annie, but have the NJ birth record for their daughter. I have been to the NJ State Archives several times. Thank you for any help connecting my JAQUES line to the Rahway family. Leslie B.

If anyone can provide historical or family information for anyone, please let me know. I am interested in the family of Noah CLARK, a member of the church, and information about him. I have been unable to find the parents, siblings, or relatives of my Elizabeth CLARK who married William MILLS at the church. One would think that she and her family were possibly members of the the church. Anyone have any thoughts. Audrey

Hi. I'm looking for information on the descendants of Stephen Day, Jr. and his wife, Mary "Polly" Bonnel. Stephen was born 1769 to Stephen and Damaris Foster Day. Polly was born to Benjamin Bonnel and Rachel Van Winkle. Their children include Jane(married Moses Ward), Elias (married Abigail), Barney (married Emiline Jones), Benjamin B. (married Roxina Purdy), Mary (married Levi Ketchum), Damaris (married Ephraim Hamlin), and Edwin S. (married Fidelia Gleason) and Lewis (married Nancy Langdon). I'd love to exchange information with anyone associated with these families. I'd also like to know if there is an index of marriages of Union County online, as I'd like to find a marriage date for Benjamin and Roxina. I believe there is a family bible or other record somewhere that lists this family but have not been able to track it down. Any help at all would be very much appreciated. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving! Barbara Stockford Hillsdale, MI
Hello Fellow Listers I would like to wish each and everyone of you a Great Day on Thursday Regards Pat R Thanksgiving is.... Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude to God, our Creator and Provider, whose guidance and care go before us... and whose love is with us forever. Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the changes, to remember that we, too, grow and change from one season of life to another. Thanksgiving is a time of changing seasons, when leaves turn golden in Autumn's wake and apples are crisp in the first chill breezes of fall. Let us remember the true meaning of Thanksgiving. As we see the beauty of Autumn, let us acknowledge the many blessings which are ours... let us think of our families and friends.. and let us give thanks in our hearts. Sometimes "Serendipity" brings us a real blessing! Eighty-four year old (but "not yet quite senior") Jeanne Summerton Spangler, whose parents and grandparents were Superintendents & Matrons of the Elizabeth Almshouse [in Union County]until 1960, recently wrote to us. She and her siblings grew up in that poorhouse. She wrote us to provide some historical notes about that poorhouse ... which we have just posted on the NEW JERSEY page on our website. (We also hope she will be sharing more of her memories with us in the future.)The POORHOUSE STORY is a clearinghouse for information on 19th century American poorhouses. And this is just the kind of information we love to share! [See directions at the bottom of this message.] We are also delighted to announce that NEW JERSEY Radio Station KGHT 1500 will be discussing Poorhouse history on the program. And you can meet Jeanne (really, because the show takes call-ins)and hear her recollections. "North Jersey's Talking" host: Lee Fielding CALL LETTERS: WGHT FREQUENCY: 1500 Date: Thursday, November 14th 2002 Time: 8:00 AM (EST) IMPORTANT NOTE: We suggest you tune in early ... the program signs on at 7:00 AM. If you go to the homepage of The POORHOUSE STORY at http://www.poorhousestory.com you can find Jeanne's notes by clicking on the link to POORHOUSES BY STATE and then clicking on NEW JERSEY on the table of states. On that same homepage at http://www.poorhousestory.com you can also click on the link to our NEWS ALERTS page for more details about the radio program and how to listen to it (live only! ... that means "real time") on the internet if you do not get that station where you live. The program airs from Pompton Lakes, Passaic County, New Jersey. The program will also be covering the current controversy about what to do with an old poorhouse cemetery in Hudson County! Hope you enjoy the website! And we hope you can join us on the radio! Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady) host of The POORHOUSE STORY
Below is a copy of some correspondence with Ancestry.com and myself about their Census for Union County: Topic: Census Images Online Description: I noticed that there are no listings on the 1930 Census Index for Westfield, Union County NJ. My father and his parents lived there at that time. They and several other people that I know of aren't even listed in NJ. I suspect that nobody extracted that info. I am searching for information anyone might have on my Greatparents, Henry L. Molleson, and Sarah E. (?). Ella May married William Richard Canning, from Canada, about 1894 (I have not been able to find a definite date/year on their marriage). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have an ancestor, his daughter and her son all dying within 6 weeks in May/June 1904. Was there maybe an epidemic in Union/Rahway in 1904?
I strongly suspect that David Roberts married Ellen Williams, both from England, were married in New York City in 1872, before moving to Elizabeth. How can I verify this, and find out the date and place of the marriage? -John
Dear Union Researchers, If anyone is going to Plainfield, could they do a lookup for me at the Plainfield Library? I am interested in knowing if my grandmother, Gussie Norman, lived in Plainfield in 1903, 1904, or 1905. I was hoping someone could look through the city directory for this information. Thanks so much in advance. Arlene Dunkum
