Tracy -- do you have specific Thompson names? I may have some data to help, but it would be easier if I did not have to look up the distribution lists to find out the names. As long as we're on the topic of Elizabethtown, I am descended from the Rev. John Harriman, who was installed as pastor September 1687, through his son Joseph. Any long-lost cousins out there? Or, anyone with information on this family? Especially.....JOSEPH - we are really having difficult with records on him - birth, marriage, death Gail Verderamo Benson __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I am hoping that someone can give me information regarding the three or more land distributions to the Elizabethtown Associates from about 1666 to 1699 and possibly beyond. I will appreciate your help. Bill Magie Georgia, USA
Wish I could help but the name is not familiar. Can you tie it to dates ? It may be that I was at school with someone in the family. Elmora, Hamilton and Jefferson High and Battin High are the schools I remember. Dates are from 1925 through 1942. DK Boca Raton FL
You may care to look at history of the Kean family, extant to this day in Union, N.J. The original John Kean was president of Elizabethtown Gas Company, an office which passed to his son and onward. They were also holders of "The Kean Farm," which was given to Newark Normal School. It is now Kean University on Morris Avenue in Union. A history department there may be of more help and there are also history sources in Elizabeth, N.J. As a child I lived in Lincoln Avenue, Elizabeth. At the corner of Lincoln and Chilton Street there was (and may be yet) a Magie home, remnant of the Magie Farm. That was about 75-years ago. David Kurtz Boca Raton FL

A listing of the actual surveys for the 1699 -1700 divisions of land, referred to as the "Clinker Lots" can be found at my "First Families of Westfield, NJ" website. Go to the site, and on the lower left click 'Records' then click "The 174 "Clinker Lots 1699-1700". St Mary's Cemetart in Rahway St George Ave and Westfield Ave has very old tombstones and in Elizabeth there is a Church on Broad St with Revolution soldiers and later.Look in WWW>Rootsweb.Com Great place ---------- > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [NJUNION] Cemetaries in Linden, New Jersey > Date: Sunday, January 30, 2000 7:37 PM > > I was wondering if there is a Cemetaries that goes back any farther? The colonial cemetery on St Georges Ave Rahway adjacent to the historic Merchant & Drovers Tavern at Wood Ave is one to check out. The Evergreen Cemetery on North Broad St Hillside is another good possibility. Also, of course, you might check out the churchyard cemetery, if there is one, at whatever church the person attended.
Would someone be so kind as to list the cemetaries in Linden New Jersey? Thank you in advance. Judy Rollins, Jacksonville Florida
I was wondering if there is a Cemetaries that goes back any farther? I'm looking for info on Jeremiah Morris 1898. And A MAry Morris . Thank you Becky In Az

Many thanks to the folks who helped get me oriented concerning Shunpike Road in Summit. Thought I would list the grantors on the Nov. 25, 1875 deed to my great-grandfather William McMane(s), in case anyone is researching them. They were David O. and Anna E. Magie. Nearby property (in the description of the boundaries of the Magie property sold) belonged to John Kemp and Jane A. Foster. Dave McMane
Just received a copy of an 1875 deed of property on Shunpike Road in Summit, N.J. to my great-grandfather William T. McManes. Does anyone know where that road is (or was)? Dave McMane
